Saito is feeling depressed about loosing to Ward, while he is sulking with Guiche, Fouquet appears to fight the two of them, while Ward and Louise head off alone and we learn of Ward’s loyalties and Saito’s feelings.

Summary:
- We see Saito overlooking a cliff, tears in his eyes. Louise approaches him trying to say it’s no big deal he lost to ward, the Captain of the Magic Knights. Louise sees Saito and he tires to say he is crying for something else, and eventually just tells Louise to shut up and leave him alone, being sad that he cant’ protect her. Louise heads off, telling Saito how she has decided to marry Ward.
- Guiche appears telling Saito it’s almost time to go. All of a sudden Fouquet and her golem appears to stand in their way. We see ward and Louise, Ward telling Louise Guiche and Saito decide to turn back, and head off without them. Guiche and Saito fight against Fouquet, Eventually Tabitha and Kirche arrive because Kirche wanted to meet with the handsome man, Ward, she saw. They fight the golem and eventually the townspeople arrive. Fouquet says she will end this here, at lest she was able to stall them.
- Saito is thinking about what Fouquet said, suspecting that Ward is working with Fouquet. He finds out the ship to Albion has already left however, and there won’t be another one till next morning. (Too bad they don’t have a flying dragon or something that they can use, oh wait, they do but they don’t use it.)
- We see Ward and Louise on the boat, Louise telling Ward she has decided to marry him. Eventually the reach Albion and go to a church where Louise was informed the Prince is hiding. After a less then welcome greeting, they are confirmed to be sent by Henrietta and the prince reveals himself. Louise meets with him, giving him a letter. He reads it and gives Louise the letter back Henrietta needs. He tells her how he won’t give up; she is fighting against an organization that is pulling the strings of the civil war the country is in. He will continue to fight for his country.
- After meeting with the Prince, Ward tells Louise how he wants to marry right here and now. They can get the prince to perform it and everything. Louise says she doesn’t want to now, it’s too soon and she wants to return to her country. Ward grabs her saying how Reconquista needs her; the organization the prince said is leading the war. Louise is shocked and ward speaks more about striving for power. Louise struggles away saying she won’t marry him, but another member of Reconquista appears and brainwashes Louise, stopping her in her tracks.
- We see Ward and Louise before the prince, about to be married, Louise in a trance not able to object. Before Louise is forced to agree to the marriage, Saito bursts in, stopping the wedding yelling out Louise’s name. This breaks the spell over Louise. The prince tells his knights to seize him but Louise tells him not to. Ward pushes Louise out of the way, saying to move, and he kills the prince. He attacks Saito, knocking him away saying how it doesn’t matter, he can’t stop him.
- Saito gets PISSED, seeing how Louise is reacting to Ward being evil, yelling he won’t let someone hut Louise’s feelings. Ward says he is an idiot for falling in love with a noble. Saito says he doesn’t care, he doesn’t care about nobility or worlds or anything, all he cares about is that he is Louise’s familiar. His rune glows and he kicks Ward’s ass, absorbing his magic and attacking him.
- Saito stands in front of Louise, and ward gets up saying it doesn’t matter, two of his three objectives are complete, one to kill the prince, one to obtain the letter for Henrietta which he has, and the other to get Louise. He attacks, making the whole church explode but we see Saito pushing Louise out of the way and the two of them being levitated but by Tabitha and Kirche flying above the church.
- Saito is holding a barely conscious and weary Louise as they ride home. Louise remembers ward but sees Saito in his place. Saito then kisses Louise, much to her surprise but she accepts it and holds the kiss as they fly off.
Impressions:
O…M…F…G…. This episode is by far the best episode in this series thus far. Seriously got like light headed from excitement of watching this episode. It was everything about it, the feelings we get from the characters, the plot advancement, and the kiss at the end. Overall this show itself is great; I just think this episode is the pinnacle. Although this episode was really light on the comedy, that was perfectly ok just because of how much character advancement they had in showing their feelings.
The first thing that surprised me right off the bat was Saito crying. I mean, from the very beginning of the show you can tell that Louise is going to have feelings for Saito and so on, and usually the male lead has feelings too but Saito crying because he isn’t strong enough to protect Louise was just mind blowing. It really showed how genuine Saito’s feelings for Louise are which just amazed me.
Of course one of the HUGE things in this episode was the kiss, omg, that was just….wow. I mean, I know the two of them kissed in the first episode because of the whole making a pact with a familiar thing, but this kiss was their first real kiss that meant something. The thing is also that Louise didn’t push him away or anything. At first it surprised her but she accepted it and all and went along with it. Although, I’m a bit concerned how they will transition that to the next episode. From the preview it sounded like Saito and Louise had a fight, likely over the kiss. Although both of them have feelings for each other and have kind of showed it, Louise still seems intent on being stubborn and all. Now, I know that’s good for her as a character and makes things a bit more interesting, but it really hurts any of the relationship progress they made in this episode so hopefully they won’t downplay this event too much.
Again, I kind of fear how they will downplay the relationship advancements because of Louise’s personality, but in this episode anyways I was just overjoyed with how much they showed each character’s feelings for each other. Saito being able to kick Ward’s ass because his heart was in the right place thinking about Louise, Saito being jealous and feeling useless because he couldn’t protect Louise, Louise continually thinking of Saito when with Ward, everything was just huge.
They mentioned in this episode that Louise is a descent of void. Although earlier they had mentioned the whole void element thing, this is the first time anyone has addressed Louise as such. Although not too big of news, for any who didn’t see that one coming, I told you so.
One thing that just stuck me as odd and it didn’t make any sense. Not really something about eh plot, but why the hell didn’t they use Tabitha’s familiar to follow the flying boat!? I mean, it can fly, the boat is flying, and they don’t even have to fly the whole way they can just go to the boat. When they notice it took off it was right above them, they could have easily followed it.
One thing that has me a bit confused is the ring that Louise has. She said that it is the water ruby ring or something, now, isn’t that the ring that the water spirit is looking for in exchange for returning Louise back to normal? Although the spirit did say Cromwell took it, who was Cromwell? Was Ward Cromwell? If so then where is the ring? If no where the hell is Cromwell and this ring, and is Louise’s ring just coincidently named something similar to what the water spirit wants? Not a big thing but something I’m not sure of, but also isn’t some big theory or important part.
“Why the hell didn’t they use Tabitha’s familiar to follow the flying boat!?”
This bothered the hell out of me too! I guess it was so Saito would arrive just late enough to burst in during the wedding ceremony.
The kiss really surprised me. But it kind of annoys me when they give the hero (Saito) competition (Ward) for his love interest (Louise), and the competition turns out to be a villainous freakjob. What kind of competition is that? Is it such a big victory to win someone’s heart away from Mr Sadistic Murderer? I didn’t think so.
There might have been a line in an earlier episode but I’m pretty sure Ward = Cromwell. Ward is definitely a Reconquistador, and the Reconquistadors have overthrown the rightful ruler (Prince of Wales) of Albion (poetic language for England). The historic Cromwell also overthrew the king of England. Anyway, it makes sense to me and it’s rather late in the series to introduce a huge new villain.
Although it does make winning over someone less of a victory, I don’t eally think the point of Ward was to be that much of a competition for Saito. Throughout the whole Ward bit, I think Louise’s feelings were already mainly focused on Saito. Ward wasn’t so much a competition, but a tool to make the characters show how they really feel.
I had earlier guessed, and was pretty sure, that Ward was Cromwell. However that still leaves the question of where the water spirit’s ring is. If Cromwell took it and it is the one Louise has, then how did Hentrietta get it? If not, then how will they get it from Ward, who anyone could guess isn’t dead.
