Kazuki tries to deal with Yuuji and Chihaya’s increasing friendship, feeling left out because of how much the two of them have in common.

Summary:

• Yuuji and Kazuki head to school together with everyone else. Along the way Chihaya joins them, being incredibly friendly and not bothered at all by Yuuji’s perverted behavior, even tempting him in a way.
• During lunch Kazuki, Yuuji, and Chihaya sit together. They get to talking and Chihaya and Yuji get caught up in talking about some fighting style, surprising Kazuki that Yuuji has non perverted interests, while feeling left out of the conversation. She tries to join in and learn from Yuuji at the advice of her sister, but isn’t able to understand anything so leaves the two of them alone.
• We learn of Yuuji’s hobby of taking pictures and Chihaya says that she will come over tomorrow to visit him and Kazuki. She comes over after Chihaya wakes up Kazuki; they go over to Yuuji’s room. Kazuki freaks at how much of a mess it is, and that there is some perverted stuff but Chihaya is fine. Yuuji shows them some of his pretty well taken pictures, but all of girls, Kazuki says how this isn’t a hobby but Yuuji gets defensive, saying how it isn’t’ perverted. Giving a really good argument, saying he is just taking pictures of things he likes, and none of the pictures were taken in secret, and so on.
• Chihaya says how they should have a photo shoot so they gather up everyone, and Yuuji takes some pictures of everyone in different poses and doing different things, Kazuki staying out feeling like she isn’t cute or interesting so she heads inside.
• Everyone notices Kazuki is gone so they go to find her, finding her undressed trying to but on better clothes for the photo shoot, even though she sways that’s not the reason. When Yuuji comes in Kazuki is ready to punch him but Chihaya is able to calm them, explaining to Yuuji how Kazuki is mad now and to wait for them to settle things.
• Eventually it gets late and Kazuki doesn’t come back out. Yuuji sees what’s wrong and talks to her, saying how everyone was worried and how he wanted to take pictures of her. Kazuki gets mad saying to forget it, saying she isn’t cute anyways. Chihaya comes in trying to settle things. She says how if she doesn’t want Yuuji taking the pictures she can. She tries to take a picture but says it’s too lonely, and tries to get Yuuji and Kazuki together to take a picture.
• Kazuki gets mad saying she doesn’t want a picture with Yuuji. She is yelling at Chihaya but Yuuji says it’s his fault and tries to take the blame. She eventually goes inside anyways saying she is just getting in the way, Yuuji changes his attitude saying how he is wrong, its Kazuki’s fault, he hates her and so on. Kazuki just gets mad saying she hates him too, and she never wants to see him.

Impressions:

I was just absolutely stunned by this episode. I didn’t think they would have anywhere near this amount of drama or anything at the end, especially this early in the series. I was thinking that they would end with something like this the second to last episode, but that’s it. Makes me wonder a bit what the final conflict and climax will be at the very end of the series if in a series as comedy centered as this one is, it had some drama already.

The main drama here seems to be that she is jealous of Chihaya, even if she won’t admit it and even if she herself doesn’t know it, that seems to likely be the case. Yuuji also doesn’t seem to be that bad guy at all. Putting aside the whole ecchi thing, although we have been seeing lately qualities that redeem him from that, after saying all those mean things to Kazuki, Chihaya even seemed to notice he had a kind of look on his face, like he didn’t really mean them. Like he said those things because he thought it would be best even if it’s not what he really felt.

All drama aside, I’m really starting to like Chihaya’s character. Just the way she acts, being carefree and interesting, but also being fairly observant and knowing how to handle situations, such as being able to stop the fight between Kazuki and Yuuji the first time, getting Yuuji to leave without Kazuki punching him. She also isn’t a bad looker either but her personality and character are cool I think.
