Nagisa and Tamao get training from Miyuki for the Etoile election, while we see Hikari dealing with Amane’s accident in which she has lost all memory of Hikari and their relationship.
Summary:
- Nagisa and Tamao are getting training from Miyuki, preparing for the upcoming Etoile election. After practice, Miyuki asks for Shizuma’s help in training them.
- On the way back from training, Nagisa finds out that the Hikari and Amane’s speech to announce their participation was postponed. They wonder why and they decide to go to the school to find out, as they have asked around and Amane, Hikari, Yaya, or Tomori haven’t returned to the dorms.
- We see Hikari sitting over a bed with Amane lying there, Yaya and Tomori beside her. Yaya is trying to tell Hikari to go back and get some rest, it will be no good if Amane wake sup and she is too tired However just then Amane wakes up but we find out that she has amnesia, not knowing who Hikari is and at the mention of Etoile she just causally tells Tomori no matter how many times she asks she said she isn’t participating, she doesn’t even have a partner. Hearing all this, Hikari is just devastated and collapses to the ground. Nagisa and Tamao watching this happen through the window.
- All throughout school there are some talk and rumors of why the announcement was postponed such as Hikari and Amane breaking up, Hikari not being good enough. Yaya hearing all this can’t take it and yells at everyone they don’t know anything shoo they should shut up and stop spreading rumors.
- Hikari goes though the day in a daze, not quite knowing what to do not being able to be with Amane. Eventually she goes tot eh fountain by herself and Chikaru comes up to her and comforts her, saying that Amane’s heart is just covered with snow and Hikari the sun will be able to warm it. Hikari just cries in Chikaru’s arms.
- Nagisa and Tamao arrive for practice. While they are waiting for Miyuki, they talk and Nagisa asks why it is they were chosen. She asks why there needs to be two Etoiles and Tamao says she supposes it’s because everyone needs help. That someone can’t live by themselves, they need someone with them. Shizuma overhears this and obviously having decided to take up Miyuki’s offer, emerges and starts coaching them, saying to Nagisa how she must become the next Etoile, saying to herself watching the two of them practice dancing how her last action as Etoile will be to make Nagisa it.
Impressions:
Wow, the whole Amane thing just had me feeling so sorry for Hikari. Although, at least Amane didn’t die. Although this way is almost worse. Having Amane completely forget about Hikari and the relationship they had must be incredibly devastating. I mean, Hikari is so sweet and innocent and that was one thing that she could never dream of having, but it happened. Her being with Amane was more then she could ever hope for and she was incredibly happy, but then to have Amane suddenly not even know who she was is like having that dreams he has been living in stripped away. Although it probably won’t be permanent, as even they said the doctor said it’s not permanent. Still, it’s pretty terrible to have that happen.
I was overjoyed with how Yaya stood up for Hikari in this episode. It was awesome the way she stood up to everyone, yelling at them for just making up rumors and protecting Hikari, show that she really did care about Hikari even though she knows nothing will happen between them, standing up for her for another reason was great to see.
I’m still unsure of how they will do the whole Etoile election. I mean, even more so now that the whole accident befell Amane. On one hand you have Nagisa being the main character and there was the whole focus of how Shizuma wanted her last act as Etoile to be making Nagisa Etoile, plus the whole thing with Miyuki wanting to do this for Miatre sense she is graduating. On the other hand you have another couple that actually had a fairly steadily growing romance relationship between them, torn apart by tragedy. To just leave them without anything would add more tragedy to it. My main number one guess however is that Nagisa and Tamao will become Etoile, but Hikari and Amane will get back together because something will spark Amane’s memories back or something. However the Hikari and Amane winning isn’t too farfetched right now.

I don’t think Nagisa and Tamao would made an Etoile. If they enter the battle, Hikari and Amane will win. And if the writers decided to give us another surprise, I hope that Tamao step down and let Shizuma take her part and join the battle with Nagisa. If this happens, I hope they win instead of Amane and Hikari. Amane and Hikari don’t need the title to seal their love. They love each other right from the very beginning. Whilst Nagisa and Shizuma needs it. Also I can’t imagine Amane and Hikari doing Etoile thingy for instance take care of flowers, do paperwork and etc. St. Spica’s students just don’t fit as they had else to do for instance, riding horse, singging choir and etc. I don’t see they were made for Etoile. Usually the most fit to be Etoile should be from St. Miatre. They are meant to be.
It’s impossible for Shizuma to participate. She is graduating, she won’t be there for the year in which she will be competing for.
Nah…she could. In episode 17, we have some clue that “shizuma would not be elected”. This simply means no one would elect her as one of the candidate (not etoile election) to compete in the Etoile. Also we learned that Kaori only become Etoile for few month and its ok to have 1 Etoile. So Nagisa could be only Etoile after Shizuma graduates, I mean it’s allowed in the regulations.
Yes it’s ok to have one Etoile, but Shizuma is not eligible. They don’t want there to be one Etoile, the whole point of the Etoile position is that there are two people. Having Shizuma be one of them doesn’t make any sesne. I mean, Nagisa would become Etoile at basically the same moment Shizuma graduates. There is no time between when the new Etoile is selected and the other class graduates, save a week maybe, and that’s not enough time to justify the vote.
I’m not closing the door on any more advancment to Nagisa and Shizuma’s relationship, but I simply do not think that there is any way Shizuma could be chosen. Even if it is physically possible for her to become Etoile, it wouldn’t make any logical sense for her to be chosen. The whole point is for there to be two people, that’s why Shizuma wanted it last time to become closer to Kaori, Shizuma getting the position would not bring her closer to Nagisa as she wouldn’t be around to be that position.
Logically, It’s the end of the year, they are electing a representative for the next year, why would someone who isn’t going to be around be eligible to be a representative? Ignoring the whole emotional part of it and looking at the Etoile position as a government position over the school, you would not elect nor would you even make someone eligible if they are not going to actually be in that position. They are voting for next years Etoile, there may be a small period of time between selection and being “sworn in” but that means nothing. The fact is Etoile is a position for the next year and Shizuma is not going to be around next year.
Again, I’m not saying there will be no more advancment of the whole Nagisa x Shizuma thing, I just think they will go about it a different way.
Well Xebek I see your point. It’s logical and true. You see I start to believe Shizuma and Nagisa to join the battle thing it’s because in my DVD booklet says so. Also a point that I forgotten to mention was in episode 11, Chiyo-chan did mention about she wants Nagisa to be her onee-same forever even if she becomes etoile with Shizuma. Or perhaps I’m over-analysing :D
So who you root for? Are you a fan of Shizuma x Nagisa or Tamao x Nagisa or Amane x Hikari or Yaya x Hikari?
Kagome x Chikaru :D It’s hard for me to say whether I’m a fan of the other pairings, because they will leave someone out always. it really depends on how they make and go about the pairing and how they deal with the one left out more then the pairing themselves.
Well I can only see this series it will lead to Amane and Hikari as the new Etoile while Nagisa prolly not with Shizuma but stays as friends with Tamao. This is my take XD
