Urd’s two personalities are still split within her body so she calls on help from the ruler of Hell to fix it.

Summary:
- We see Urd still has her two personalities split inside their body, as they talk to each other and fight over what channel to watch on the TV. As Urd goes through her day we see she is starting to forget things. She wanders around and the demon side of her doesn’t remember people or events but the goddess side does and reminds her of them.
- Belldandy tells everyone that if Urd continues, her goddess side will disappear. Urd shows up and says there is only one person who can fix it, the ruler of Hell. Urd tells everyone that her two personalities both agreed that this needs to be done. Urd calls the ruler of Hell, and we find out she is coming right5 away, and that Hild is Urd’s mother.
- Hild appears in a burst of power, Belldandy noting to Keiichi how huge (normally I would use the adjective god like but that doesn’t really fit) her powers are, as she has dozens upon dozens of seals all over her, Belldandy just having tow small earrings to seal her power. However Hild acts all cheerful, hugging Belldandy and Skuld, and Keiichi as well.
- Urd tells Hild that she doesn’t want one of her sides to remain she wants to stay a half demon half goddess. Hild tries to strike a deal with her to come to Hell if she does but she refuses, saying she will remain a goddess with her sisters. Hild says she will do the synthesis if they agree to a term, but she won’t tell them what it is. Keiichi stand sup to her saying how can they agree to something if they don’t know what it is. Hild throws some magic at him but Belldandy hits it away.
- Urd agrees to Hild’s terms and Hild performs the synthesis, with the help of the other goddess and Urd to sing all the parts needed, especially the goddess parts. The synthesis is a complete and Hild tells Urd the term is that she calls her Oka-san, meaning mother. Urd refuses and Hild says fine, but she owes her.
Impressions:
One thing that surprised me in this episode was just the whole theme of them keeping things from last episode. I’ve noticed that they keep on having story arcs actually, and they aren’t making the whole show completely episodic. I mean, we had this three episode arc about Urd and her split personalities; we had an arc previously all about Skuld and that one punk. This seems like it will likely be a trend for the rest of the series. The first season didn’t really have much of this as far as I remember. Most of the episodes were fairly stand alone, but here we are getting a lot more episodes that are together with some others which is nice.
Hild was a very interesting character that I liked a lot. It was interesting because we saw a serious side to her and an aria of power that surrounds her, yet she acted all childish at times which was just fun to see the transaction.
I loved the brief confrontation between Belldandy and Hild. When she blew that kiss at him and Belldandy hit it away, I was just like whoa. Then seeing the look on Belldandy’s face was awesome.
One think that make same think they will come back to the whole issue of Hild later on, and with some impact, is that they never mentioned who “that person” was. I find it obvious that it is Urd’s father because Hild said how the goddesses were just like him. However they never said that and there still seems like there is some tension in that subject that they will hopefully touch on.
One thing that surprised me a tad, more like I just found it odd, was that Belldandy didn’t know that Hild was Urd’s mom. When Urd first called her and they were watching, Skuld asked if it was a friend of hers and Belldandy said she doesn’t know, she doesn’t think so. She supposedly didn’t know it was her mother which was just a bit weird.
I loved this episode!
I do not, however, think it strange that Belldandy did not know or recognise Hild. From what I have understood, Belldandy knows that Urd’s mother is a demon, Hild, but only by name and reputation; she has never met or even seen her in person before.
Remember, Hild left Urd with the father and then left without a word. Belldandy was presented with an older sister, and being the way she is, she never questioned Urd’s existence but wellcomed her with unconditional love.
I’m absolutely trying to find that hyme the 4 of them sing together, i didn’t hear it on the OST for this series, any idea where it is?
Hmm, if it’s not on the OST I don’t really have a good guess. Perhaps it never really was a full song for them to put on there, so not beg enough for soemthing they would include in OST. In that case there probably isn’t anything you can do except find a copy that is only the duration of the length of the scene in this episode.
I have that song of the four goddesses singing by the way. I have the mp3 of it that I made from the show using ulead video editor. I’ve uploaded the video clip to my site, but you’re welcome to contact me for the mp3. I have it on my iPod. ^_^
Goldknight, where is your site? I would also like to get the mp3 of the curses/hymn that the three goodesses and Hild sang together. please contact me as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Nicole
I meant goddesses by the way!
