Bokura ga Ita - 10

Yuri finds the picture that Nana took when Nana leaves it in a notebook she lends to Yano. Nana and Yano also deal with jealousy that Yano has about a birthday present Nana got for Take.

Summary:

  • Nana is sitting in class thinking about the picture she found, wondering why Yuri had it. She puts it in her notebook, and forgetting about it, lends the notebook to Yano. Yano opens the notebook at his desk which is next to Yuri’s and the picture falls out. Yano seems surprised and looks at it. Yuri says that it’s hers and he should give it back. Yano kind of gets mad, tearing it in two asking if this is some kind of joke.
  • After school, Yuri is alone in the classroom looking at the ripped picture. She flashes back to all the times that Yano helped her, how they met, how he showed here there are things in the world she can do besides isolate herself. She starts crying at the memories.
  • Yano and Mizu are out shopping, as Yano and Nana had an argument about Nana snooping around in other people’s things because of the picture. Nana gets a call from Yano and it turns out to be one of Yano’s friends. He tells her that they are having a birthday party for Take and since she is Yano’s girlfriend she should come. Yano takes the phone back and says she doesn’t have to come and hangs up.
  • Nana goes to the party anyways, and there is still a bit of tension between Nana and Yano about the argument. Nana gives Take a cheap present, a cell phone strap. Yano gets jealous and eventually him and Take jokingly fight and Yano throws the strap out the window. Nana throws water on him, yelling at him saying he can’t do that and storms off.
  • Yano chases after Nana, and they talk for a while about being there for each other, but being only the other person’s. Yano says how he may be jealous but he wants her all to himself and so on.
  • The next day Nana gives Take the present, as Yano didn’t really threw it he just pretended so he gave it back to Nana. Then after school Nana and Yano are studying in Yano’s house and Yano’s mom tells Yano there is someone at the door from school for him. Yano goes down and Nana stays up in the room, looking out the window to see who it is and sees Yuri standing there. She asks Yano if he wants to know why Dead-Nana was in so-and-so’s car the night she died.

Impressions:

Yuri is really turning out to be an amazing character I think. She is one of the best characters I have seen in a lot of anime, and one of my favorite. She isn’t my favorite because of some fighting moves or weapons he uses, or how hot she is or anything like that, but her back-story and the tragedy of her background I find amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever felt sorrier for a character in an anime since Haruka. I mean, Yuri was basically used by the guy she loved to get back at her sister. Not only did she loose her sister which she may say isn’t that big of a deal, but the one guy who managed to have an impact on her feelings and heart, ended up just using her and stomping all over her feelings. However, Yuri doesn’t seem completely helpless and pitiful, as shown by her confronting Yano at the end of this episode; I just wonder where this will go and how Nana will react to Yuri seeking Yano out.

On a lighter note, I thought it was hilarious how when Nana gave Take the present, the other two guys were trying to find of a way to change the conversation, hoping Take would as he is an expert at that but instead Take teased Yano about being jealous, the opposite of what they wanted him to do so they could relieve the tension.

Although on the darker side about Yano’s jealousy, I thought it was kind of ridiculous how he asked for her not to be nice to any other guys in front of him. This will likely cause some drama, with Nana doing something innocent and Yano over reacting to it.

Again we see evidence that Take has feelings for Nana. To me, these seem fairly obvious and I think with how much we are seeing of them, but how little they are emphasized we are going to see them have some big part later on in the story. I mean, Take searched for hours in the dark for some extremely cheap present that Nana gave him. That goes a little beyond just being nice.
