.hack//Roots – 22

Tabby starts a guild to help people and tries to work things out as to what she is going to do; meanwhile Kuhn comes face to face with an AIDA and is the second Epitaph User to awaken.

Summary:

  • Tabby has founded her new guild, The Meatball Brigade. She tries to save some newbies along with Sesaku (white haired guy) and a new person. They however are low level and can’t do much. Touta kind of yells at them, saying if they want to help anyone they have to go level up.
  • We see Kuhn walking alone down a cave. All of a sudden he is face to face with a huge glowing black blob. The world around him glitches and he keels over in pain. He then looks up and shouts and there is a huge flash of light. Pai and Yata see this, and they say the second one has awoken.
  • Pai meets up with Kuhn who is by himself, looking over the seas. She tells him how he has a special PC, that he should join her guild and quit his other one because he could drag the ones he cares about into a dangerous situation.
  • Kuhn goes back to Canard, his guild, and sees his other two guild mates. He goes with them to level up and runs into Tabby and her guild who is leveling up. After a while they split paths and we see Tabby talking with Sesaku at the waterfall place, talking about the guild and how it’s a family. In real life she doesn’t have much of a family and Sesaku says how the guild can be like a family for her.
  • Kuhn meets with Pai and says he hasn’t decided to join her guild, band question how this power he has can drag others into danger. Pai takes him somewhere and they encounter another AIDA (black bubbly thing) Pai then starts to glow and in a flash of light it’s defeated. She says how she can control her power, he can’t. That it’s dangerous and because of his power he may be targeted, and especially if he can’t control the power he has it will be dangerous.
  • Kuhn informs his guild mates that he is leaving the guild, and tries to explain it’s because he doesn’t want to endanger them. Meanwhile, Tabby and the Meatball Brigade (Dumbest guild name ever, except for L’Malla) go to a field where Haseo has just killed some people. They heal them and then him, saying how they will help those hurt by him, including him. She says how he doesn’t need to kill them to ask them a question. Haseo says how this is idiotic, but doesn’t do anything against them and just walks away.

Impressions:

The main big thing in this episode, I thought, was Kuhn awakening. The whole Epitaph users are crucially important in G.U. and we are starting to see this. Along with Kuhn awakening we get the first appearance of AIDA. Although they didn’t explain that or says what it was, its still there.

However, they said that Kuhn is the second one to awaken, the first one being Pai. Now, that means Yata hasn’t awoken. How the hell has Yata not awoken yet? I mean, he’s like orchestrating the whole thing. That also means that Ovan hasn’t awoken either. How is that possible? He already has a bunch of powers and abilities with the whole aria of mystery around him. Well, this also disproves the theory that Ovan summoned Corbentik to defeat Tri Edge when they fought, if he wasn’t awoken he wouldn’t have been able to do that.

One thing I just wish they would have done is freaking show Tarvos or Magus! I mean, in this episode there were two instances where they were used, so why couldn’t they have shown them? The whole burst of power against the AIDA thing was using the Avatar, but they just showed a flash of light instead of showing the actual avatar.

The other major thing in this episode besides the whole Kuhn awakening thing was Tabby’s guild. For the most part this was incredibly cheesy. I mean, it was kind of ridiculous the outfits they wore and how the acted. I understand the whole point of a guild to help newbies, that’s what Kuhn’s guild is for but they don’t wear stupid costumes. One thing I noticed is how level headed Touta is though. How he told them they should level up first if they want to help newbies. I would think that’s self explanatory, you can’t save people if you are weaker then them most of the time.

Phyllo’s line had me thinking, it’s an interesting quote, “If you can only see one thing in your mind now, you won’t be able to adapt when new things happen.” More or less I think it really describes where Haseo is and what his character is like now.

Just a small note, we finally get the name of the guy who was helping Tabby, the white haired guy in her guild; Sesaku. I’m pretty sure this is the first time they’ve mentioned his name so just thought id mention it.

I’m sure Seisaku’s name came up once before this ep but I can’t remember when (probably when he first appeared), so many times he’s appeared and no one’s mentioned his name, lol.

I saw another translation of Meatball Brigade, that called it Paw Brigade which made alot more sense.Especially Touta’s response to the name after hearing it.
Also wouldn’t the first appearance of AIDA be when Ovan opened that thing on his arm and we see a “black bubbly thing”?

Didn’t Kuhn mention Seisaku’s name when he Tabby meet them talking? (or maybe Seisaku told Tabby his own name).

About the AIDA, yeah it did appear before when Ovan opened his arm but I was referring to a direct encounter more or less, we didnt’ really see anything from when Ovan released his arm, but in this episode we get a confrontation agasint it is more what I meant.

As for teh Meatball Prigade name, they did explain it in this translation that meatball is another tearm for the paw of dogs and cats, the padding that is so it still fits, either way its a little bit odd.

As for Seisaku’s name, well I’m really bad at remebering when they mention minor character’s names. Hell, it took be 23 episodes into Strawberry Panic to get the name of the Spica President.

AIDA comment: I was really putting down that AIDA appeared in Ovan Vs Tri-Edge for the fact that he doesn’t have Corbenik and there isn’t much else I’d say that could stop the azure flame. Then again he could be using the special weapons but we did see an AIDA appear through his glasses,so not too sure what to make of those weapons yet.Probably best if I wait and see what happens and it’ll be a long wait untill G.U. reaches Europe.

Meatball: Yeah,I was trying to remember Touta’s response to the name and it does make sense.Just wasn’t too sure on the Meatball name since they called an Epitaph User a factor processor.

Names: I find it easier to remember names in anime series’ like //sign,//roots since theres only one name to remember. But when it comes to series like Bleach trying to recall a person’s full name especially when they don’t appear often isn’t easy. But I can usually recall their first name (well their last in the japanese sense e.g. Kurosaki Ichigo would be Ichigo).

Haseo seems to be growing stronger through out each episode he is seen with that new PC body of his. But it seems to have also affected his mind. Now he seems to have gone mad.
