Tenma and her friends go on a ski trip, meanwhile Karen, Lala, and Imadori go skating together and end up competing.

Summary:

• We see Tenma weighing herself. She reads the scale and flips out, saying how she ate too much over New Years like always. She gets a call about going on a skiing trip with the other girls and jumps at the idea, Yakumo saying how this is great because she can get exercise.
• We see Lala in her room watching some figure skating. She seems amazed by it, wondering how anyone can do that. Her washer and dryer then go crazy and overload her room as she scrambles as to what to do.
• Tenma and the other three girls are all skiing, Tenma we see who is extremely good, able to swerve around obstacles, and make big jumps and land them perfects. Eventually they run into Karasuma who is there and together with Mikoto and Eri, Tenma plans to spell out in Kanji with their bodies after a jump, I love/like you. They make the jump and make the kanji for it, but then just a slight change to it causes the meaning to be too fat. Karasuma takes this as directed at him, saying how his snowman suit does make him look fat and Tenma is devastated saying that’s not what she meant.
• Lala, Karen, Imadori as well As Tougo and Harry are all ice skating. Karen overjoyed that Lala asked them here because she can skate with Imadori. They go out onto the ice and Lala doesn’t know at thing, thinking it was easy but not able to hardly move. Imadori teases her about it but she can’t do much to him, as she can’t skate over to him. They all take part in a skating contest, Imadori and Lala on a team, and Karen and Tougo on another. Karen and Tougo are both amazing skaters but it is a couple skating competition and both of them basically do their own thing so they are out. Then Imadori has a plan to humiliate Lala so when they go out she is wearing a speed skater outfit and looks ridicules. Imadori taunts her as she can’t go over to him but she takes off her skates and runs over to him, beating him up.
• Harima is at home working on some manga assignment he was given when he is greeted by his friend giraffe. The giraffe says how a dear fiend needs help. Harima takes this as meaning Tenma needs him so he rides the giraffe but finds out its Yakumo who has passed out on the floor of her house from a cold. Harima helps her into bed and falls asleep on the floor next to her.

Impressions:

I was surprised they actually had Tenma be good at something. Although it was a tad bit out of character for her, because of how much of a klutz they made her before, at least they didn’t’ suddenly show her good at something that doesn’t make sense. I mean, being good at skiing is plausible even if you are as bad as they have showed her, so it wasn’t too bad. I liked how they showed her in a new persona with a slightly different voice and hairstyle.

Akira and Karasuma would make a perfect pair, I realized in this episode. Not saying that this would happen, nor would I necessarily want it to, but I realized in this episode how very very alike they are; both of them wearing huge outrageous costumes all the time. Also the whole bit with Akira taking it as a challenge when Tenma reacted to Karasuma more then her. I love Akira’s character, not so much Karasuma, and just thought that that little confrontation was great bit for Akira.

I thought the kanji joke in this episode was just brilliant. I thought it was executed brilliantly and it was rather unique and innovative compared so some jokes in certain comedy anime. For those you didn’t get it, basically they spelt Daisuki, I love/like you but then they showed Tenma dropping her hat and sticks which changed the meaning even just that small change made a big change to the meaning, but just finding that the two phrases that looked so much alike and both fit into the story at the time they put them in the show was great.

Again the whole skating part was a good bit mainly because of how high Karen ranks on my favorite characters from School Rumble list. Ok, I don’t actually have a list but if I did, Karen would be high up there if not number one.

Another thing about this episode that I quite liked was the whole chibi/kid versions of Yakumo and Tenma. I thought it was awesome seeing Tenma and Yakumo like that, as we haven’t really seen much of what the character looked like as kids, especially since they were rather chibi it was kind of cute.

I laughed fairly hard from the preview just at the mention of Hanai still being on the kite being blown away. It was so random that I found it hilarious. It wasn’t’ that big of a deal in the episode it was in, and during this episode there was no mention of it. Anyways, just a small thing there that I enjoyed.
