Tsuyokiss - 03

It’s the school’s sports festival and Sunao goes up against Erika in order to win the rights to make her club.

Summary:

  • Sunao awakes from a dram of her attacking Erika but being blocked and then shot by her. She wakes up in the nurse’s office in school; remember it’s the sports festival.
  • We see Erika telling Sunao about the festival, saying if her team wins then she will grant her the club that she wants. Sunao accepts the challenge, saying how she will defeat her.
  • The festival goes on, the school being broken into four teams, Erika, Yoppi, and Leo as well as others, being on west side, Sunao, the people from her class, and Otome on her side. In all of the events Erika is in she wins, as well as Kani winning some because cheating isn’t against the rules so she wins by being sneaky. In most of the events, west wins, leaving east in second.
  • However, with Otome on their team, the east starts to rack up some points, keeping in second total points to west and catching up.
  • Sunao seems determined to beat Erika in one event as she keeps loosing humiliatingly. Otome just smiles at her determination, but in all the events Sunao still looses.
  • Come time for the final event however, East and West are tied. The final competition between them ends in a tie so they go to the special extra round, dodge ball on a balance beam high in the air. Erika is chosen to represent west and everyone thinks Otome will go for east but because of Sunao’s determination, Otome insists Sunao goes, and Sunao is grateful for having this last chance to beat Erika one on one.
  • They start the event and Erika is easily beating Sunao, just toying with her but when Otome tells the other people why she chose her, because of her determination, they cheer Sunao on giving her a boost of strength. However it’s not enough to defeat Erika, and the west wins.
  • From the beating of the dodge balls, Sunao wake sup in the nurses office as we saw in the beginning. Yoppi brings her a French maid outfit saying this is punishment for loosing, as was agreement in their bet for making the drama club. Sunao goes outside and sees her friends are wearing ii too, saying they are all in this together.

Impressions:

This episode allowed me to realize something about this show. I don’t’ think it’s as bad as a lot of people think. I am by no means saying it is super good or anything like that; I just think it’s a show you can enjoy if you stop expecting it to be all these great things. People analyze this kind of show too much. Not all shows are supposed to have humor the way they do or have drama or character focus. This show I think, if you don’t’ think about it too much and just have fun with it can be a very enjoyable show. I’m not saying it is the funniest show, since the focus is comedy, but I think if you stop expecting it to be great you can at least enjoy it for what it is.

There is just something about Yoppi’s voice that I love. I can’t explain it. I wouldn’t want her seiyuu for a main character probably, but it’s hard to explain, for her character there is just something about tat voice that I love. It might just be that it sounds different from all the others but it is defiantly fitting I think.

Another thing that I find about this show that is just awesome and hilarious at the same time is Noriko, the girl who takes pictures of everything and only says Kuu, or something. Its not just that she occasionally says it when agreeing or something, but when everyone in this episode was yelling go Sunao, she yelled out like it was a cheer Kuu, like that’s physically all she can say. It’s so minor yet so random that I think it’s just a great part of the show.

Some other just minor things that were a bit odd and random about this show was the fact that when Sunao was laying down and asking for peanut butter, Shizuka just happened to be carrying some between her boobs which she gave to Sunao. I also found it funny how they showed a graphic of more carton version of Sunao facing off against Erika and Yoppi angrily, and then when they pan away its an actual drawing that Yoppi is holding and not just some graphic.
