It’s nearing Christmas time and after a fight between Yano and Nana they exchange presents. Nana notices some odd tension and feelings between Yuri and Yano when they have to sit next to each other so she questions him about it.

Summary:

• Yano asks to go somewhere with Nana but she says she is busy. She goes to buy a present for Yano but Yano finds out she was lying so she stalks him. Nana gets the present but Yano sees her with Take who is just there to help her get the present, but ends up not because he wants it to be something from her.
• The next day at school Yano avoids Nana, being mad at her about lying to him. Nana tries to talk to him and when she slips, she fakes being severely injured. When Yano realizes it’s a joke he gets mad, storming off even though Nana didn’t’ mean it to be anything serious. She chases after him and apologizes, crying. They exchange presents, Yano getting a hat, Nana getting the ring from before.
• Yano goes back to get a book he left at school where he runs into Yuri. She thanks him for saving her when she fell, but says not to do it again because she doesn’t want to owe him anything. She says the reason she hates him is because he just used her to get revenge on her sister. He says he didn’t and she asks why he cried at that time. Nana overhears this and is shocked. When Yano sees she overheard them, he walks off.
• At school, everyone changes seats and Yano ends up sitting next to Yuri, which everyone thinks is a terrible decision (done randomly) At lunch Yano and Nan are talking and she wants to ask him if anything happened between him and Yuri but can’t. They flashback to middle school where Yano and Yuri sit next to each other. One day Yano asks to share a textbook with her. They do and she is shy about it but after talking to her smoothly she puts the book between them. We see that later when Yuri is working hard Yano just kind of taps her and points out the window to the beautiful scenery, Yuri being amazed and captivated by it and Yano. The next day in school, Yano forgot his textbook and is about to borrow one from someone else when he says to forget about it, and asks Yuri if they can share, which shocks everyone. Yuri says nothing and puts the book between them like before, again to everyone’s amazement and Yuri blushes.
• Yano goes over to Nana’s house under the assumption her parents are gone, when they really aren’t. They spend time together, Yano talking smoothly to her mom. Eventually when they are up in Nana’s room together they are close and embracing each other. Nana says she wont’ lie to him anymore like she did when she went with Take to get his present, and asks him not to. He says yes and she asks him if anything happened between him and Yuri.

Impressions:

I loved this episode. Although it didn’t have anything great in it in terms of storyline or anything like that, there were no real advancements; it was a nice mixture of some nice sweet charming moments as well as some humor. I loved Yano’s honesty about sex, how when Nana asked if that’s all he thinks about he said yes, and was saying how there is no reason to go over to her house if her parents are there. Near the end we saw some more about the seriousness and where the relationship exactly is between Yano and Nana, and how far it is, where it is going, and so on.

In the long term of things we did see some advancement of Yuri’s character which I thought was interesting. We already found out how there was this whole big thing between them in the past, but I found it really interesting when the two of them sat together. Instead of asking for someone else’s book he asked Yuri to share and she did without a word, doing it exactly how the two of them used to share a book in middle school. After doing this she then blushed which was the real kicker, showing that she probably still has feelings for Yano.

Again we saw Nana consoling in Take which I think will likely become a much bigger deal later on. As I said before I think that there will have to be some drama later in the episode and I think Take may play some part in it. The best guess I have now is Yuri will be with Yano and she will kiss him or something, saying how she loved him but he just used her. Nana will see this and will be horrified, not just by the kiss but because Yano is likely to lie to her about any involvement between him and Yuri in the past. She will console in Take, Take maybe has feelings for her so there will be something there. Yano will see this and go off the handle, and so on.
