As Skuld’s power starts to show, her angel is able to hatch and she learns what it means to have an angel and be a goddess by facing her weakness.

Summary:

Skuld is sitting at the table with Belldandy and Keiichi. Belldandy is telling her things like how can concentrate her feelings and powers. We see a nut on the table that Skuld concentrates on. She thinks of the recent events with Sentaro and the nut all of a sudden flies up and she is able to levitate it and control it. She is surprised and happy at being able to do this and Belldandy just smiles. Just then Sentaro knocks on the door, being threatened by Banpei yelling what is this. Skuld rushes to the door to meet him and Keiichi asks why Skuld’s powers have awakened now. Belldandy just says it has to do with her feelings and Keiichi just says he sees, and Belldandy adds she is a girl after all. Skuld is outside with Sentaro and she shows him how she can levitate the nut. All of a sudden she starts to fall and Sentaro catches her, but then they separate, both being embarrassed. The two of them hear Belldandy’s singing so they go and watch. Sentaro points to her angel and asks what it is. Skuld explains how it’s an angel, every goddess has one. Sentaro asks if she has one and Skuld kind of freezes and says of course she does. We then see a little later Skuld in her room staring at her angel egg. She is begging it to be born, saying how she promised Sentaro that she would show him her angel. She is desperate, having to use her own powers. She concentrates on it and can’t get anything to happen. She wonders if she has to use human body heat so she puts the egg in her mouth. Just then Urd comes in and wonders what she is doing. She sees all the books about angels around and says to Skuld how she won’t be able to do it this fast. From the shock of Urd coming in, Skuld accidentally swallowed the egg. She tells Urd this crying and Urd tries to take her to her room where she can give her some vomit medicine to get the egg out. All of a sudden however there is a flash and Skuld sys to herself how there is something in her body. Skuld then collapses and Urd calls out for Belldandy.

Skuld is lying in a room with Belldandy and Urd around her. Belldandy is telling Urd how they need to get the egg out of Skuld or the power from it will cause Skuld to go berserk. Urd says that they will have to seal the egg once it comes out. They do some magic and the egg starts to come out. Urd says they should seal it and they start to but Belldandy says wait. The egg is glowing and kind of grows. The shell then breaks and a small angel comes out. Urd is surprised there is an angel but it is like 1/3 the size of her and Belldandy’s. Belldandy just says she is glad. Skuld comes to and says how tired she is. Belldandy tells her to look behind her and she sees the angel. Skuld is surprised and Belldandy says that it is her angel. Skuld is stunned, and incredibly happy she almost cries. The next day Skuld goes out with Sentaro and her angel named Noble Scarlet. Skuld shows her off to Sentaro and throughout the day she and the angel do all sorts of stuff together even though it can’t do much because of its size Skuld has a lot of fun and does various activities with it. She goes home and continues to do things. The angel tries to carry a plate of tea to Skuld and such but isn’t’ very strong and drops it, but Skuld says it’s ok. Belldandy looks on happily but Urd looks serious and says to Belldandy how they may have to still seal it. Belldandy says how It doesn’t seem the angel has the power to go berserk and seems loyal to Skuld but Urd says that’s not what she meant. Skuld is sitting outside and gets a call from Sentaro. She goes out, along with her angel, to see Sentaro. She does fine tuning on his bike for the race. Sentaro asks her for a favor, to come see the race and cheer him on. He asks her to be at a certain point that overlooks the whole track, that way he will be able to always see her from the course. Noble Scarlet kind of sees the two of them, how they look at each other both kind of shy. She flees back and pushes Skuld towards Sentaro, Skuld falling forward and kissing him on the check. She jumps back embarrassed and Sentaro is stunned as well. He kind of rushes off and back home Skuld is yelling at her angel how she could do that, now Sentaro probably hates her. She yells at her to get out. Noble Scarlet flies out, Urd sitting in the nearby hallways hearing all this. Belldandy talks to the angel saying how Skuld doesn’t really hate her. The angel flies a bit outside, seemingly reflecting on things.

The next day we see the pre race preparations, Sentaro there looking around not seeing Skuld. Skuld is in her room and Noble Scarlet brings her ice cream because Keiichi went and got some for her so she could make Skuld not mad. She bring sit in but Skuld says how she isn’t mad, and jokingly says how if she does something uncalled for again she’ll turn her back into an egg. She notices the ice cream and says how they will eat it later. Noble Scarlet tries to pull on Skuld’s shirt getting her to go to the race but Skuld says its fine, she is sure that’s what Sentaro wants too. Noble Scarlet doesn’t give up though and keeps trying to drag her along. Skuld kind of gets it and goes to the race. Sentaro is leading but crashes and the others pass him. He looks at the bike wondering if it’s alright but Skuld just yells to him its fine. With Skuld’s encouragement and having her to watch him, Sentaro is able to finish in first place. Skuld is watching the ceremony from the back saying how she should go home but Noble Scarlet kind of stands in her way. Seemingly knowing Skuld’s feeling she tries to get her to go to Sentaro. Eventually she pushes her back, causing her to go to the front and Sentaro sees her. Sentaro thanks Skuld for coming, because of her he was able to win. Sentaro gives her the plaque he got form winning, saying he won because of her. Skuld accepts it and we see Noble Scarlet glow and disappear. Skuld waves goodbye to him and turns around to see Urd and Belldandy there, Urd levitating an angle egg. She floats it over to Skuld and she asks what it is and Urd says it’s Noble Scarlet. Skuld is devastated and shocked, asking why. Urd says because angels are obedient to their masters, because of what Skuld said she turned back into an egg. Skuld starts crying and Belldandy comforts her saying if she continues with her feelings, the time when she gains strength the angel will come back to her. The next day Skuld is telling Sentaro that they won’t be able to see Noble Scarlet for a while, but by the time she is an adult she will come back to her.

Impressions:

Poor Skuld, having her angle appear and then disappear. Although she said that it will come back again by the time she is an adult, it is much sooner then that because in the movie she had the angle and was still her age. Although the movie I think was same timeline as the OVA the way they progress stuff may not be the same, but this doesn’t necessary mean she is without the angle till she is an adult. I thought it was really neat how her angle, even though she knew she would be turned back into an egg, didn’t care and thought about what Skuld really wanted even if he wouldn’t admit it to herself. The angel saw Skuld’s feelings and just tired to help her get them across and go with it. I also thought it was really appropriate how Urd was the one how noticed things may go wrong and kind of explained what happened because basically the same thing happened to her kind of, she told her angel to go away forever and so forth.
