Its Christmas time and Harima has just finished his manga, so he works up the courage to show it to Tenma which shows his feelings.

Summary:
We start off seeing a scene with the huge captain of the boat that Harima was on in the first season. He and his men go up against a huge wave, and the huge captain just faces it, wondering to himself if Harima found his dream on land. We then see some jail where a guy is walking down the aisle. He stops at a large cell that contains Harima in his Santa suit, passed out on the floor with manga pages and ink around him. The guy asks if he is alright, telling him its time to go. Apparently Harima was in there because he was angry and lying in the streets and Santa lying in the streets during Christmas time isn’t good. Harima jumps u, grabbing the guy telling him that it is finished. He gathers his manga pages together. The guy asks what he is going to do and he says he will show it to the woman he loves. Harima walks down the streets in the snow, reminiscing about recent ev4ents, how he was able to stay with Tenma and ho much he loved it, then the events where he was kicked out, forced to go through all the stuff with Mikoto and Eri. Harima tells himself how he Tenma will be the first one to see his script. Meanwhile, Tenma and Akira are with Tougo, outside next to a big pottery kiln. Tougo says in his domineering kind of voice how they are ready, despite the temperatures and going from hot to cool they remain perfect. Apparently Tenma had made something and it’s finally finished so she takes it with her. Back with Harima, he is still walking through town when he gets a call from someone at the manga place. They tell him how he has to submit his script right away, or else it won’t be published in time. Harima says how he wants to show it to the girl he loves but the guy says there is no time for that. He tells him this could have an impact on his future and Harima says he understands and hangs up. Harima thinks about himself, and his future. He had always been the kind who kind of just made his way through life, most of the tie being a delinquent only and getting into fights, while those around him for the most party were studying, getting into universities, and so on. He realizes that this is the first thing he has done that can be a step for himself in the future.
That evening, Yakumo is home watching TV, hearing about the upcoming snow storm, when she hears Tenma outside. She goes out and sees Tenma lugging a huge pottery curry dish, a dish that is bigger then herself. She props it up against the house saying how it is for Karasuma. All of a sudden Harima arrives, out of breath, standing before Tenma. Harima starts to say this is the one thing he cannot back away from but Tenma snaps asking what he is doing here, that she said he is to never come here. Harima seems devastated, not knowing what to do, seemingly unable to give her the manga. However he says to himself how this is one of his only chances, that there will just be another misunderstanding. He tells her that he is working on manga but she says he is lying, that that is not like him at all or anything. Yakumo seems to not know what to do, knowing the situation but not wanting to interfere. Harima tries to tell him it’s the truth, and Tenma asks what this even has to do with her. Harima mentions Yakumo and Tenma looks at her and Yakumo kind of nods, saying that she should read it. Tenma kind of gets it now that he is serious, and she reads Harima’s manga while Harima sits there, waiting, worrying. She hands it back to him, a bit surprised and says that it is interesting. Harima seems overjoyed at this. Yakumo tells Tenma how it is about to be published in some magazine and Tenma says how that is amazing, she tells Harima she will be looking forward to it, which just makes Harima overjoyed. Just then they hear an announcement over town that because of the huge snow storm and such that all the streets, trains and public transportation will be shut. Tenma and Yakumo run inside, seeing on the TV the reports of the huge snow and Harima just stands still, devastated that he won’t be able to get the manga to the publishers. However, Harima takes Tenma’s curry dish that was just sitting there and uses it as a sled, as apparently the publishing place happens to be conveniently nothing but downhill. Harima zooms down hill, dodging people and fish rockets that are launched at him, dodging them and making his way as fast as he can to the publishers. On the way he passes Akira who is walking home, and Itoko and the art teacher in their car on the way back from their skiing trip. They see him and come to a stop, as they are just speechless at seeing Harima sledding downhill at super fast speeds.
Back at Tenma’s place, Tenma is just sitting by herself, seemingly depressed, beating herself up over how she treated Harima, how because he didn’t tell her earlier tit caused her to hate him from misunderstandings. Yakumo just tells her if she really hated him she wouldn’t be feeling this way now. They soon get a call from Mikoto, who heard from Akira that Harima is riding her curry dish down hill. Tenma is stunned, shocked at this news and just drops the phone. Just then, Itoko arrives at their house and tells the two of them to get in her car. At the Christmas party at the manga publishers, we see the huge editor, the guy in charge of getting Harima’s script, and Karasuma there. The guy seems worried that Harima won’t make it in time but soon Harima comes busting though the door in his Santa suit on the curry dish. As he enters, the dish breaks but Harima manages to hand the chief editor his script. The editor reads it and when he is finished he says he cannot accept it, and throws it back at him telling him to take it back. Harima is shocked and pissed off. He tries to punch him but Karasuma stops him. Harima turns his anger to him, saying how it is him again. He tells Harima to calm down, that he heard it all from Akira, and then looking behind Harima says it looks like “she” is here. Harima turns to see Tenma, looking at them all, devastated that her dish is broken. She takes a broken piece, puts some curry on it and, crying, hands it to Karasuma telling him Merry Christmas. Karasuma accepts it and Tenma goes off crying. Harima seems stunned, not realizing that that was Tenma’s hard worked present. Harima runs off after her. The editor picks up his manga and says to Karasuma how he cannot accept this, only one man can judge a manga such as this, referring t the sea captain. Harima runs through the halls and finds Tenma in one of the offices, crying. He just stares in at her, devastated at her crying saying how he just wants to see her smile again. He approaches her, trying to tell her that he is sorry. He comes up behind her and just hugs her from behind, shocking Tenma causing her to stop crying. He holds this for awhile then Tenma screams out from surprise at what he did. Harima apologizes again for breaking the dish and Tenma apologizes too for having misunderstood him. She holds out her hand asking, friends? Harima shakes her hand saying yeah.
Impressions:
Holy shit! This episode was just….wow, completely not what I had expected. It seems, at least from my understanding, that Tenma knows that Harima has a thing for her. Something along those lines, but there was a huge development between Harima and Tenma, at least she doesn’t hate him now for the event that happened before but it just seemed from her reaction, she was really beating herself up over being mean to Harima after she read the manga. As if she knew that Harima likes her because she told Yakumo and herself how she didn’t know Harima felt that way and she had misunderstood him and so on. This is just completely not what I expected, for Tenma to actually know his feelings.
As for how things will progress, I’m really not sure. This episode really shook me as to what I thought this show was headed for. There was the huge development between Harima and Tenma, however Tenma still seemed interested in Karasuma, crying because his present was destroyed and still giving it to him and all. Even though Tenma kind of forgave him, they said friends but nothing really romantic happened and it’s not like Tenma acknowledged it either. Also, Yakumo really interested me in this too. Throughout this she kind of watched this unfolded between Harima and Tenma but her reaction was a bit weird, as if she was happy something was happening but unsure herself of some feeling she was having, perhaps because she has feelings for Harima just doesn’t realize it. Right now it does seem like its heading for a Harima and Tenma ending if it heads to any closure of an ending. I still think that he may not wind up with anyone because that’s the kind of show this is but my standing on that was shook a bit by this episode.
I pray it’s not a Harima and Tenma ending. After all, everyone loves to jump to conclusions. Like a few eps ago, it was Eri x Harima. I’m still praying for an Itoko and Akira rule all the men like dogs ending.
Yeah, I’m still not convinced that there will be a definate ending. If he ends up with someone it won’t really follow the whole foucs the rest of the series has gone for, the whole misunderstandings because of feelings that weren’t known to the other person.
I’m sure there will be a third season… three semesters… three seasons…
It’s only a mild variation on the manga version. I’m not sure what the commotion is about - the summaries for 20-21 suggest that things are still very much on track. If anything, I’m hoping that this is an excuse for setting up the missing nighttime Christmas tree scene that was supposed to appear 2 episodes ago.
