Ok, now I recently saw the trailer for volume 2 of .hack//G.U., A Voice That Reminds Me of You. Now, I saw this trailer without having played the first G.U. volume but it still had enough things in it that I understood to cause me to nearly have a heart attack. I’ll write a bit about the trailer and what I thought of it, theories it brings up. Soon after this I’ll make a full Pre G.U. Theories post that contains stuff in here but also stuff from watching more of Roots and so forth. I’ll make another impression of this trailer post after I play the first G.U. game. REMEMBER: This is based on not having played the first game, if you want a better opinion on theories read it somewhere else or check back here after I’ve played the first game when I’ll do a second impression on this trailer.

Ok, here is a pretty detailed summary. There are a lot of things that happen really fast so I had to go frame by frame, and since everything happens so fast and the way screenshots work I couldn’t take a screenshot of everything I wanted to but I got a few.

Summary:

• We see Atori falling to the ground, with black bubbly stuff floating around her.
• There is seen some explosion of something that spreads a shockwave thought the game. It hits people, they turn blue and disappear.
• Kuhn, Pai, and someone I don’t know either get hit by the above comment or they disappear for some other reason. It doesn’t seem like they teleport out because Kuhn seems confused as to why he is disappearing. The same thing happens to Yata as well but he is in a different setting.
• We see what looks like Balmung falling from the sky.
• Some shots of people, including Endrance
• We see Orca falling from the sky.
• Haseo is shown getting a new symbol on his cheek
• Atori is shown being carried away by something, some Avatar or AIDA
• We see Balmung and Orca jump past each other.
• Ovan is shown saying something and we see Haseo walking towards Atori.
• We then see Orca standing up and Balmung getting up from having been on the ground. The two of them look at the camera.
• We see Haseo in the same setting, shocked, and he sees some coffin thing and TriEdge is there and opens his eyes.
• We see some game play shots.
• We see some eye.
• There is a shot of someone from the first G.U. who I think is important but not playing I don’t know who he is. He is consumed by the black bubbly AIDA stuff and kind of turns completely into it.
• We see a shot of who I believe to be Shino which is likely a flashback as it is all fuzzy and a shot of her in what looks like the cathedral.
• We see Balmung and Orca standing over two bodies.
• We see a shot of the PK’er who looks like Ender, and then a shot of someone who’s eye and that side of his face looks infected, possibly the whole AIDA infection and he screams forth.
• Balmung and Orca stand in front of a large blue thing with multiple arms, possibly an AIDA.
• We see Haseo standing before Endrance; he says something to him and then starts to deteriorate into data and disappears.
• Haseo yells out Skeith and turns into what looks like an even more advanced version of Skeith from what he could do in the first game.
• We see Skeith facing off towards the blue thing which has black stuff around it so it is likely an AIDA.
• We see some game play of Skeith fighting Innis who has some black stuff coming out of it.
• We then see Atori glowing and floating next to something. There is a huge flash of light and then some explosion of some force field that spreads out.
• We then see Skeith fighting Gorre who doesn’t seem to have black stuff
• Skeith then faces off against “AIDA Gate Keeper” who has as expected black stuff.
• We see Skeith and Innis again looking at each other but getting separated.
• There is then some thing, likely Innis, that has a bunch of glowing squares appear in front of it. Some energy appears in front and it shoots out some energy blast at Skeith. Innis then rushes forward and Skeith and Innis fight.
• We get some promo for Online Jack now and then a promo for .hack//Roots.
• They show three screens, one showing a clip from Roots with Phyllo, and the other two showing in game setting and we see Phyllo in the game and Haseo walking towards him.
• We see Sakubo alone looking kind of sad, touching the water somewhere.
• We see Haseo alone in a big white plane with just a white floor and desks like in a school.
• We see a quick shot of Pai, then Endrance, then Yata.
• We see a shot of the guy I don’t know who was infected before. We then see the PK’er who looks like Ender and we see her eye is messed up so she seems to be infected too.
• We see a shot of some red head, then Kuhn, then Atori looking startled, then Haseo grinning.
• We go to a shot of some white plane where TriEdge, Balmung, and Orca stand together.
• We then see Atori bent over in pain, black stuff around her and her character flashes to fuzz and data then back to normal.
• We see some unknown eye.
• We then see some white haired person.
• We see Skeith
• We see a bunch of black hands reaching for Haseo.
• We see Skeith and Innis fight.
• We then see a shot of Atori, eyes wide with black stuff around her, apparently the same scene as before when she was glowing
• We see a shot of a red head
• We see Haseo backed up by Pai and Atori, rushing forward to fight some AIDA
• We then see a lot of shots rush by really quickly
• TriEdge awake in his coffin
• Endrance falling
• Guy with a leaf tattoo on his face
• Atori holding her head in pain
• Some people laughing and having fun with Haseo
• Skeith
• Balmung and Orca standing with a glowing spot between them in some area with an actual sky not just some plane.
• Cat like person
• Some area with intricate walls with a Sign on it
• Someone holding up something glowing
• An eye opening and closing.
• TriEdge
• Silhouette of what is maybe Sakubo giving the head/hat shape.
• Endrance disappearing in front of Haseo.
• Orca and Balmung facing someone who is holding someone else up by the throat, with bodies all around.
• Two people facing each other
• A Sign
• Atori
• Red Head
• Blue AIDA
• It then goes white and we see TriEdge, Balmung, and Orca walking together in the area we saw with a sign. Ovan is standing there facing them as they approach him, he says something with the big Sign behind him and the three Azure Knights pull out their weapons. The lock on Ovan’s arm glows and the Azure Knights rush forward. The lock comes off Ovan’s arm and the trailer ends.

Impressions:

Now, for those of you who don’t know this bubbly stuff indicates AIDA which are kind of the bad guys that cause anomalies and such. So Atori has been infected by this AIDA thing somehow. Although a question I have (which is likely answered in the first game) is what the difference between being infected and falling into a comma is. It seems to be roughly the same cause so why are some people treated differently? It’s not just Atori who has bee seen as infected so it can’t be that it’s because she is a titled person. My guess is all the shots we saw of Skeith fighting Innis, Innis having the black stuff is because Atori had the black stuff. So that is why Innis who is supposedly supposed to be Atori would be fighting Haseo who is Skeith.

What was the big explosion thing that sent out some shockwave or force field? It seemed to maybe come from Atori for some reason so what exactly did it do? When it hit a bunch of people they turned blue and disappeared, so does that mean that big thing infected everyone? And again does that mean those people are in a comma or just infected? And what exactly does being infected mean.

What does Haseo getting a new symbol on his check mean?

What exactly happens to Endrance? We see Endrance disappearing before Haseo, saying something to him and I think I heard the translation is Endrance telling Haseo he will give him his power. So is the deal with Endrance what caused Skeith to become super charged? And what exactly does happen to Endrance is he gone for a long time or just very briefly?

Why was Skeith (Haseo) fighting Gorre? Gorre didn’t seem to have AIDA stuff around it so does that mean that Haseo was directly fighting against Sakubo? Or does Sakubo not have control over Gorre yet? Either that or the eight epitaph titled people aren’t all necessarily on the same side.

Probably the biggest thing in this trailer is the different appearances of Orca and Balmung. Seeing as how they work with TriEdge it seems to be more of a thing that it’s not one thing or person controlling TriEdge but maybe the game itself of something. Or that TriEdge is its own A.I. and not controlled by something else, same goes for the other two.

I’ll post about this more in the Theories post, but the main thing that made me think in this trailer is that there aren’t really good guys and bad guys. The Azure Knights may not be evil. I think there are multiple sides as I’ve read places and people have said there is no good and bad, there are like four or five sides all with conflicting interests. Ovan facing off against the Azure Knights made me think of how good he actually is. We saw in roots that when he opened his arm there was black bubbling stuff which symbolizes and AIDA so it seems that maybe the Azure Knights are trying to destroy the AIDAs Well, again I’ll go into that later this post is more about this trailer.
