Ah! My Goddess 2nd Season - 12

Troubadour, and ex-boyfriend of Urd’s comes back to earth and tries to win Urd back, while under the assumption she is with Keiichi.

Summary:

We start off seeing Skuld, Keiichi, and Belldandy huddled around the TV. It’s broke and they mention how Urd will probably flip out because she will miss her favorite show. They head outside to see Urd sitting by the small pond, looking very serious. We flash back to some point in Urd’s past where she is with some man/god/spirit. They talk as if they are a couple and the guy tells her that he has to leave to pursuer some dream of his. He heads off leaving her there alone. Back in the present, Urd kind of returns to normal and starts to head inside when there is suddenly a huge storm of petals that surround her. A man appears from the midst of the petals, the man from Urd’s past, Troubadour. Troubadour tells Urd he has come here for the sake of falling in love with her again. Urd just pushes him away and tells him to forget it. He tries to convince her with a song but she starts to summon some lightning at him but Keiichi runs up and tells them to stop it. Troubadour freaks out about there being a man here. The two of them start arguing, Troubadour saying things like why is an with a goddess, that he cant’ talk to him like that and so on and Keiichi is saying things about him just coming into someone’s home unannounced. Urd tells Troubadour about staying in Keiichi’s house and Troubadour seems completely devastated at this news. Troubadour gets really pissed off at Keiichi and starts to sing some curse song and Keiichi goes into pain. Urd tells him to stop it and summons lightning, hitting Troubadour hard. While Troubadour is lying unconscious Urd tells them how he used to be her boyfriend but left to find his dream. She tells Keiichi to be careful as he is extremely jealous. Troubadour comes to and says to Keiichi that if he defeats him he will be able to win back Urd. Urd asks him if he found the thing he sent off to find and he says it’s on earth somewhere. He then asks Urd to listen a song he wrote for her and Urd refuses and heads inside, leaving Troubadour crying. Belldandy just tells him she is sure his feelings will reach her and Troubadour flies off.

Inside, everyone is around the TV which Skuld fixed and they turn on some show where they showcase people’s talents and Troubadour is there. He sings a song for Urd there to try and win her back, talking about how she loves him and that Keiichi is a looser. Everyone is just shocked at this, Keiichi seemingly devastated as his name was mentioned in the song that airs nationally. They look and Urd has disappeared and soon we see her at the studio where Troubadour is, summoning lighting on him. Urd yells at him, saying he can’t do things like that and how she doesn’t want to be with him. He tells her to listen to another one of his songs but she summons a huge thing of lighting this time and heads off. Troubadour is standing alone atop some antenna saying how he had hoped to be able to move her with the song. He holds out some scroll saying the only piece he needs to get the thing he had gone off to get, his dream, is the tear of a goddess, Urd. Back home, Urd is just sitting around kind of out of it and Skuld and Belldandy tell her she should give him a chance, that she is being to cold hearted. Urd just heads off to take a bath even though she just had one. She walks in on Keiichi who is taking a bath but decides to just go ahead in and try to was his back even though Keiichi is embarrassed saying no, what if Belldandy sees them. Troubadour then walks in saying this time he will win her heart when he sees the two of them. He flips out saying how no wonder Urd is with him. He then starts singing the curse song and Belldandy comes in. She sees Keiichi and Urd together, nude, but doesn’t get jealous or anything and seems to be pretty understanding. She tells Troubadour he should stop it, that if it’s Keiichi he isn’t doing anything with Urd. Troubadour says he doesn’t care, and starts the song again but drops some ring. Urd picks it up and looks at, saying how she can’t believe he held onto it. Later, the two of them are sitting together outside saying how this ring was from when they first got together and he shouldn’t have kept it. She sheds a tear remembering their past and Troubadour pulls out his scroll and the drop falls on it, breaking the seal. He says how he has finally done it but Urd gets pissed off now that she found out he was just using her so she makes a huge explosion. The next day, Troubadour uses the scroll to summon some singing bird and when it fillies off he goes after it and when he hesitates Urd tells him to go, that she wants to see him fulfill his dream so he takes off.

Impressions:

Well we get a mostly Urd episode which likely impresses all the fan boys out there. Next episode seems to be a Skuld one too so it seems like they are starting to focus some more on side characters and developing them, although they still haven’t done too terribly much with advancement of Keiichi and Belldandy. Although I didn’t too terribly like Troubadour as the character, he kind of looked like a gay Assassin; this episode was still very funny. I loved the part where he went on the TV and sang, and mentioned Keiichi’s name and Keiichi was just shocked beyond belief and everyone heard this. I laughed incredibly hard during that point and just everyone else’s reaction to the TV appearance. All humor aside I liked that this episode showed a more serious side of Urd. Until now we mainly just saw her as flirty and kind of mischievous with no real emotions but this showed a more serious side to her which was nice.
