Kyo tries to deal with Ryoko’s death and find out what exactly everything is, the Gards-Orm, why they are here when Lu Sheng explains to him the history of how humanity got to be as it is.

Summary:

We start off with everyone looking at the recording of what happened to the Altair before and during the attack. They watch how the light armor disappears and they see the enemy mecha. They say how it looks exactly like a Zegapain and someone says it must be Gards-Orm new weapon. Shima tells everyone to get to work gathering data and such, repairing the Zegapain as Kyo sits slouched against the wall, extremely depressed looking. Kyo just goes for a walk though the fake world, remembering Ryoko and asking some of his friends if they have seen her. He goes to the end of the broken bridge, the end of the fake world and remembers Ryoko, her being with him here hugging him. Kyo goes to her house and sees his brother playing the video game. He begins to walk to Ryoko’s room and her brother tells her no one lives there. He says to him isn’t’ that your sisters room and he acts like eh doesn’t know what he is talking about and says the room is forbidden. Kyo looks up and yells, addressing Shima who he says he knows is watching him why he erased her memory. Kyo goes into her room and sees all of her stuff. He sits down at her computer and sees all the video clips of him for the movie. He then sees the video of the end of the world and watches it. He opens up an audio memo Ryoko recorded and starts to cry about what she says about living and data and such, crying because she is gone. Her brother comes in the room and asks him why he is crying. He asks if it’s because the world is destroyed. He then asks why humans make a sad face, why they fight with the Zegapains. He asks what the Gards-Orm are, and we see that this is Minato talking through the brother.

Lu Sheng is watching Minato do this, and sees what Kyo is going through so he heads out in his Zegapain and asks Chris to talk with Kyo. Chris says no, that just because they both lost the one they love doesn’t mean he can help. He has to bite down and endure the pain to get over it. Lu Sheng heads back. We see Shizuno in the Altair, working furiously going through data. Kyo is going through the library, trying to find information on why humanity fell. Meanwhile, Shima is in some conference with all the other Celebrant commanders telling them of the new threat, the Gards-Orm weapon which he names Anti Zegapain. Kyo is going though dozens of books, trying to find information on what the Gards-Orm are, and why humanity fell. Lu Sheng comes up to him in the fake world, and says how he will tell him what he is trying to find out, as it will be faster then looking though the books. He tells him how there was a scientist named Naaga who developed the quantum computer to realize a dream of humanity living forever as apparitions. However some of the world didn’t want to become apparitions but soon a new virus spread through the world with a 98 percent fatality rate and the only way to save humanity was to be stored in the computers. Lu Sheng says how it is most likely Naaga made the virus to get people in the computers to realize his utopia. He says however that the apparitions still had a will of their own and fought against the machines that the company Naaga ran made, the Gards-Orm. He says how being a soldier is the only freedom of mind they have. Kyo says however how Ryoko wasn’t a soldier; she was someone he promised to protect. Kyo gets pissed at Lu Sheng how he mentions he loved her but he has to get over it and Kyo says how to him and everyone else this is all just in the way of battle so he runs out of there. Meanwhile Shizuno is working furiously when she hears Ryoko’s voice in the data. She goes furious with working, typing and doing things lighting fast and she starts to glow with data. There is a sudden burst and Shizuno breathes heavily saying she found her. She announces to everyone on the Oceanus that she found Ryoko; she is stored as data in the Altair.

Impressions:

Woot, Ryoko isn’t dad! Although I kind of guessed that she wasn’t completely dead, well mostly hoping for it and she isn’t. Although, she isn’t completely normal or anything, as it seems to me like basically she is trapped inside the Zegapain so basically all she can do is speak. She may be able to pilot the Zegapain and everything but as for a more normal life with Kyo seems less likely now so unsure of how their relationship will progress. There is the possibility that she will be able to get out of the Zegapain but I don’t think they will have her return normally or her whole almost death would be in vain. My guess is that she is somehow going to loose her memories; either of Kyo and the whole Celebrant thing, or just of the Celebrant thing. Obviously she will still remember stuff as she is in the Zegapain but if she ever gets out my guess is she will loose her memories of something to make it more tragic and all. Her movie still comes to mind about the guy who lost his memories of the one he loved because he had to fight in that war, well that could very likely be3 the case with Ryoko as the guy instead of Kyo as I had previously speculated.

Two more interesting things, besides the whole crisis with Ryoko and Kyo’s struggle about what happened to her was Minato. Minato, the vice president, I think is going through what Arque did. We saw her taking a shower and they showed her legs and parts of them were glowing and disappearing. Although it seems like no one else knows about this, Kyo doesn’t at least, and my guess is it’s mostly a secret from everyone. The other thing that was nice to know was the history behind what happened to the human race. That the guy who made the quantum computers probably released a virus to kill off the humans unless they went in the computers and fulfilled his utopia. It was nice to find out that information instead of just being told that this is reality with no history as to why.
