We get a lot of development behind Chris and Arque and Arque’s condition as Kyo comes to terms with what will happen.

Summary:

We start off seeing Chris and Arque together. They talk about life and Arque says how she still fear death even though she is already dead but Chris says how according to Kyo, they aren’t dead now. We then see Sin and Abyss; the two weird looking humanoid enemies awaken from some holding area. We then see Kyo and Shizuno talking about Arque. Shizuno says how it is a shame she will disappear, that she was a great Celebrant. Kyo says how it is cruel what will happen but Shizuno coldly says don’t be sad, it means their burden will be bigger so prepare for it. Kyo calls her cold but she just says Arque was her only friend, and jumps in the pool. On the Oceanus, the other pilots are complaining to Shima about how they shouldn’t make Arque and Chris do so much. He says it’s just a scouting mission but they all say they should use themselves and not Arque. They say how cold he is but he just ignores them and after getting up, before leaving tells Kyo and Shizuno that Arque had a request for them when Chris and Arque got back. Back at the fake world, Kyo calls Kaminagi and asks her to be the camerawoman for a trip that they are going on with Chris and Arque, so they can have pictures and such before Arque dies. Kaminagi says ok.

The next day, Chris, Arque, Kyo, Shizuno, and Kaminagi are all out and in the park and visit café’s and such. Kaminagi takes pictures of them all together. They stop at a pet store and Chris buys Arque a puppy. Chris names the puppy Pietra, after the name of the restraint he asked Arque to marry him at. They stop at a café and Shizuno and Arque sit at their own table, talking and laughing. Kaminagi says how she has never seen Shizuno so happy and Chris says the same for Arque. Arque and Shizuno talk about Kyo and Shizuno says how all his memories are back except for those of their time together. She still loves him but maybe it’s best if he wasn’t with her. Meanwhile one of the A.I.s asks Shima why he gives Chris and Arque so much work and so hard of work. He says so they won’t have to think of unnecessary things. Chris, Kyo and Kaminagi are sitting together and Chris is happily talking about Arque but Kyo seems really angry about the situation and yells at Chris for not being with Arque. Chris basically says that this way they will think less about her situation, that’s why Shizuno is with her and not him. Meanwhile the other mecha pair, while scouting, see a big enemy ship and report its location. They all take a picture together but all of a sudden Arque asks Kaminagi to take care of the puppy, they have something they have to do. Then all four of the Celebrants teleport out for the big fight against the ship the scouting party found.

Everyone is preparing for the fight against the big ship but the computer mentions how Arque’s data is really bad, that she may not survive the transfer. Shima says for them to transfer her anyway without a second thought to the objection of others. He just says this is what Arque hoped for. If she is going to die, why not do it saving humanity. They all teleport out, painfully for Arque. They arrive at the site and Kyo heads straight into the fight but Chris’s Zegapain doesn’t move and he says to Kyo how they wont’ be able to fight, seeing a glow from behind him. Chris says how the time has finally come, and he starts a self destruct sequence for his mecha. Shima tries to stop it and forcefully teleport Chris out but Chris blocked it. Shima says how he is prepared to die with Arque. Everyone is trying to tell him to stop, but Chris doesn’t care he says he can’t live in a world without Arque. All of a sudden Abyss and Sin arrive and Shizuno explains to Kyo that they can’t really die because they can use a new body to revive themselves so that is why they aren’t afraid of death or pain. Chris says the timing is perfect, the will take them with him because it is because of at transfer in a battle with Sin and Abyss that Arque lost the data that caused her eventual downfall. They fight for a bit and Chris grabs onto one of the mechas and his mecha is about to explode when Arque presses the cancel button. Arque, half glowing and disappearing almost dead says that she wont’ let him do this. Chris asks, crying, if she will make him face the world alone. Kyo yells to him how he isn’t alone. They defeat the remaining enemy and head back to the fake world. There, Chris holds Arque. They kiss and then she dies. We see everyone sad about this, even one of the A.I.s reporting to Shima that she is dead. He remains calm and unmoved, talking about the results of the battle. The A.I. says how he is always calm but he just says that if his tears could bring her back, he’d cry as much as he could. He then squeezes his arm, perhaps to stop himself from crying. Kyo tells Kaminagi that Arque is dead, and says it’s because of an incurable disease. She cries and they hug, Kyo comforting her and as he looks at her crying into him he sees a fading Celebrant symbol on her head.

Impressions:

Wow, I loved this episode. I thought it was beautiful with the whole Arque thing. It was sad and all, but it was important to the story I think to show the situation they are in and exactly how serious it was and such. I’m glad she died and they didn’t come up with some crappy oh we were able to recover the data after all. I loved the whole scene with being happy for a last time and such, and the whole Chris ready to die for Arque but her stopping him. We also saw the reappearance of Sin and Abyss. Even though they were destroyed, fairly easily, in this episode, I think they will grow to be the main enemy in the end that they have to fight.

Ok, even though I had theorized about this happening, I’m still really shocked to see it happen at least this soon. The whole Celebrant symbol on Kaminagi’s forehead was just; wow didn’t see it coming that soon at least. We see Kyo seeing it too which is important cause now he will know about it before most other people at least and have some influence in what happens rather then being kept in the dark. Although the whole romance thing is still a bit not clear as to who he will end up with, Shizuno or Kaminagi. Shizuno did say she loved him and still does but since he kind of reset it may be better for him to go his own way which seems to be Kaminagi. How much of an effect this whole thing of Kaminagi possibly becoming a Celebrant will have is unsure.
