Everyone makes preparations for their movement over to Botein as Aya escapes with Gale’s help and Nanami goes off on her own to find Shuuhei.

Summary:

We start off seeing a flashback to Sayaka’s past. We see her father leaving her at a young age and when she asks him if he will ever be back; if they will ever see each other he says nothing and walks off. We then see young Sayaka sitting on a park swing very sad. She is approached by a young Aya who asks her if she wants to play. They go of, Sayaka now happy. Back to the present, everyone is in the control room ready to carry out all the preparations for leaving. We see Nanami alone in a hallway with the dog. She says to the dog she can’t take the dog with her, it’s dangerous and she climbs into a vent and heads off to Hamal to get Shuuhei. Ryouta and Sayaka are walking down the hallway and Sayaka stops and apologizes to Ryouta, saying she cannot leave Aya behind, that she cheered her up when her father left and she doesn’t want Aya to experience the loss of someone like she did her father. Ryouta says that’s fine, and comforts Sayaka. Everyone all around is preparing things, leaving and setting things up for their trip to Botein so they can escape. Meanwhile, we see Gale and Aya running, heading for the hanger. They arrive and Aya gets in and starts trying to work the machine so she can head over to Sheratan with the others. Gale stands guard.

Back in Sheratan, Nao has noticed Nanami is missing and starts to look for her, calling on everyone’s help as they run though the base looking for her. Ryouta says he will continue to look for her, and they will all proceed as planned. Kazuhiko and Karen will go to Botein first, Kazuhiko to work the control room while Karen guards him. Then the rest of the people will use the ships to ferry people to Botein, once everyone is there they will then separate Botein and escape. We see Nao still looking for Nanami, and Nanami making her way though the ducts. We flash back to Nanami asking Shinn a question. She ask if there is any way to defeat Cellaria and he says normally its impossible, but for her it may be doable, since she seems to have anti-Sukyura powers because she is as he says a fusion of human and Sukyura cells. Nao finds the dog barking the duct where Nanami enters. She picks him up and he jumps out of her arms into the duct and runs away from them. Nao and Ryouta who just arrive realize that Nanami went through there.

Kazuhiko and Karen arrive at Botein and start things up as Karen guards him. We see now in Hamal where Gale and Aya are. Aya is just getting things in the plane to work when Sukyura soldiers arrive. Gale fights them off and tells Aya to go on her own, if they both go he can’t guard their take off and it will be for nothing. He runs out of the hanger and shuts the door as the ship starts to take off. As she does that dozens of soldiers arrive and Gale tries to fight them off by himself to allow Aya to escape. He gets shot up pretty badly, Aya seeing all this through the window in the door, yelling and crying out as he gets shot. Gale, covered in blood, falls to the floor and pulls out an explosive, saying he will take the Sukyura with him. He blows it up, causing Aya to scream out as her ship is sent off into space. We see Nao and Ryouta running up to Aki, Shinn, and Yuu. They tell them kind of about Nanami and Yuu says they need to head off. Aki and Nao run off to the ship and when Yuu sees the arrival of Sukyura soldiers tells Ryouta to head off too, that there is no time for a second trip. Ryouta freaks out, worrying about Yuu and Shinn but she just says that they will make their way there on foot if they can. Ryouta runs off. The ship takes off and they make it safely to Botein. Aya then says to Ryouta its time to go to Hamal, as they are planning to go there to rescue Aya. Just then through the comm System in the ship, Aya’s voice comes through and Sayaka is overjoyed. Morimoto heads out in a ship and grabs onto Aya’s and brings her safely to Botein. Once there, Aya and Sayaka hug being happy they met up. Karen comes running in, seeing Aya and asking where Gale is. Aya is silent and starts to sob and Karen guesses what happened. She sheds a tear and runs off, pissed off.

Impressions:

Wow, I was half surprised that Gale died. I mean, the way this anime was going I kind figured for some drama and for some people to die but I didn’t expect Gale to die, at least not this soon. It still seems like they have a long way to go in the story and all so they have plenty more room to kill of more people still, which I’m pretty sure will happen. It seemed to cause Aya a lot of anguish when he died but I think it will affect Karen more. They didn’t really show her reaction to it, I mean sure they showed her finding out about it, shedding a tear and all, but I think we will see soon some actions influenced by that like her going berserk for revenge and things like that.

Ok, now I don’t know how smart Nanami is. I understand she is all special, anti-Sukyura and everything, but still she is going up against armed zombies. I can understand things like maybe the Sukyura guys can sense people coming and can’t sense Nanami, but still if she runs into one of them she will likely die. I mean, ok, again I’ll buy that if she like touches them or something it will kill them but they have sub machine guns, and I don’t buy that there wouldn’t be any zombie guards left around Hamal just because some were sent after the rest of the people.

I want to see more relationship advancement. Perhaps this is from me half expecting it since this is from the makers of Shuffle but I think it wouldn’t hurt to go a bit further with Sayaka and Ryouta, and perhaps Kazuhiko and Karen since there was a slight hint at something between them from the time they spent together. I understand they can’t do much more between Nao and Shuuhei with them being split up and that’s fine, they showed a huge step between them already previously, and Shinn and Yuu is fine because its pretty much an already paired up match and all and they haven’t shown some background and sacrifices for the other, its the others that I would like more advancement.
