The Twilight Brigade is dealing with the mystery of Ovan being gone as it stirs up conflict between them.

Summary:

We see Haseo walking down the street and everyone around him who sees him starts saying things like, isn’t that the guy from the Twilight Brigade who took on TaN. There seem to be a lot of rumors going around and it seems as if they are famous. When he gets to the guild home Tabby and Sakisaka are there. Tabby greets him cheerfully saying that it’s great, they are celebrities. Shino arrives and Sakisaka asks her where Ovan is. She says she doesn’t know and he starts to get mad, saying if he finally found the thing they were all working for, the Key of the Twilight, where is he? Shino just says to give him a bit more time. We then see Tawaraya standing on a hill. Haseo appears after supposedly being called by Tawaraya. Tawaraya tells Haseo that his account is going to be suspended soon, and that before he goes he wants Haseo to do something. He says how TaN has always been at the front of things, and he has come up with a name for the Tri Edged symbol (pun intended) that has appeared on the Lost Grounds. He calls it “Sign” and tells Haseo to tell others about it. He then disappears but doesn’t seem to be nervous or worried and Haseo says even though he is going, it doesn’t seem like he is really going down. Back at the guild home, Sakisaka is yelling about Ovan not being around, that he is tired of hearing things like he can’t be connected. He says what if Ovan took the Key of the Twilight all for himself. Shino asks him if he really thinks that and Sakisaka kind of backs off a bit.

Tabby is walking around town happily when she is stopped by B-Set. She drags her to an ally and tells her she shouldn’t be so happy and careless right now, that Ovan isn’t coming back. Tabby seems confident anyways saying he usually isn’t here. She says everything is fine and sees Haseo walking by. The two of them head back to the guild home together after Haseo tells B-Set about the markings being called the “Sign” Meanwhile, we see Gord talking to Phyllo. He says he is thinking about quitting, that now that Ovan is gone there is nothing to do. He says he can’t use this game to escape reality anymore. As Haseo and Tabby arrive back at the home, they see Sakisaka storming out. They head inside and ask Shino what that was all about and she says they don’t have to worry about it.

We again see Phyllo at the same place he is always at and Naobi comes up and approaches him. He asks that it’s dangerous to be walking around since he is an outlaw, but he says it’s fine because today is the last day for this character. He tells him something before he goes and Phyllo looks stunned, completely shocked. He says forget about Ovan, and walks away. Haseo and Tabby go out looking for Sakisaka, as he is still in the game. Meanwhile, Shino heads to one of Lost Grounds that Ovan disappeared at and finds Phyllo there. She says it’s unusual for him to be anywhere but the riverside, and Phyllo asks if this is where it happened. Phyllo tells Shino about what Naobi said to him. Shino says Ovan told her from the beginning he thought it may be a trap. Shino then asks if Phyllo knows anything about Naobi. He knows about Ovan, he knows a side of him she doesn’t and wonders if he knows about Naobi. We see Shino return to town and runs into Haseo and Tabby who are on their way out to look for Sakisaka. Shino says don’t’ worry about it, that she has something to tell everyone and after she contacts Sakisaka he heads back and Shino tells them that Ovan may not be coming back for a while , and tells them that the Key of the Twilight doesn’t exist. Sakisaka says of course Ovan won’t come back, he can’t face them after all they have done to try and get it. Tabby seems cheerful saying that he will come back event though Sakisaka seems pissed and says how he won’t. He storms out and Tabby follows him. She tries to stop him but he pushes her away, acting how she can be so stupidly cheerful all the time. She gets kind of sad and blurts out she isn’t happy because she wants to be, and runs off in tears.

Impressions:

We get the feeling that things are really starting to fall apart. First of all, Ovan doesn’t seem to be coming back anytime soon and he was what was mostly keeping the guild together. They find out, as far as they know, that the Key of the Twilight doesn’t exist so it as if their guild and what they have been working for is all for nothing. Shino seems to be completely lost without Ovan to support her and Sakisaka is impatient at Ovan not being there and what he has been staying in the guild for does, to his knowledge, no longer exist. Haseo seemed to be rather impartial in this episode, not really saying anything or doing anything influential. The whole episode didn’t add much really, just expanded on the whole Ovan being gone and how it is affecting people.

The other interesting thing was again TaN. Naobi had said that this is the last day for this character, meaning that for some reason he is either getting a new character to avoid issues or something. Tawaraya also had his account suspended but as Haseo said even thought that’s happening it doesn’t seem like he is going down so just because the two of them, and maybe others from TaN, are going away in that sense I think they will still be around because of a bigger hidden agenda. This brings up Naobi’s talk with Phyllo, which got me thinking who the hell Phyllo is. From what Shino said to him, it seems as if he knows Ovan more then she does, and he knows a different side of him. Could Phyllo be someone we know such as a .hacker?

I was surprised at the end, the interaction between Sakisaka and Tabby. We saw that Tabby wasn’t just a super energetic overly joyful person just because she was an annoying person. Her, “I’m not being cheerful because I want to.” Comment was surprising, showing that she is probably just acting that way because of the situation they are in, as to not being people even further down and to try and cheer up the mood, and keep things together. It shows that she has the possibility of being a deeper character then they have shown so far. Now, I don’t think she will get that deep and influential in things but they may expand on that part a bit more still.
