School Rumble 2nd Season - 09

The continuation of the basketball thing where the reject team including Tenma and Harima goes up against Satsuki’s team.

Summary:

We start off seeing Satsuki’s basketball team practicing hard. Someone mentions how Satsuki seems to have lost her touch for shooting the ball and that something must be bugging her. The nurse tries to tell Asou to comfort her so he does but it just causes her to tense up even more because the reason she is doing so badly is because she has a thing for him. Satsuki head out for a bit and Lala heads out to try and comfort her. Although not exactly saying the right things she comforts her none the less, having Satsuki cry in her arms. Later after practice Asou asks to see Satsuki alone. He asks her what she thinks of him, he starts to say even if he is rejected… Satsuki immediately jumps to conclusions and says no, she loves him. Asou then goes on to say what she thought of him as a coach. Satsuki gets really embarrassed and runs out.

The next day the team is practicing and the nurse tells them she scheduled a game for them to face the first year boy’s team. All of a sudden when dribbling the ball is snatched away by someone too fast to see and a basket is scored. Again it happens and the Outlaw team appears, consisting of Tougou, Harima, Imadori, Tenma, and Yakumo. They say that they will be their opponent, that the first year team isn’t’ worthy as they show them all beaten up on the ground. The nurse accepts the challenge on behalf of her team and tells them to fight hard. The game starts and goes on for a while, the Outlaw team completely dominating the other team since they don’t have Satsuki as she is no where to be found.

Eventually, after continuing to be beaten horribly by the Outlaw team, Lala heads out for a bit to find Satsuki. She finds her on the balcony looking in, saying to herself what people are doing wrong. Lala tells her that it’s because they heed her. She gets startled but says she can’t. After some encouraging words she convinces her and she heads into the game. The game starts going again, this time Satsuki’s team doing better. Eventually however because of their strategy Lala gets kicked out for too many fouls. The nurse says she is calling in Tenma but Harima yells she can’t do that, Tenma isn’t on her team anymore. Tenma leaves anyways but so the game can continue Asou joins the Outlaws and the game continues. It gets down to the final moments and Mikoto and Satsuki manage to pull of a great move and score a basket, but in the end Satsuki’s team looses by one point. Tougou says the court is there is but with Tenma now gone, Harima doesn’t want to play, and with Lala ruined Imadori’s shoes so he doesn’t want to play, and Yakumo has to go make dinner so they don’t’ really get anything. After the game Satsuki’s team all goes out for an after party to eat. Satsuki still seems shy around Asou, but she seems to think he likes Mikoto so after dinner she says she will let Mikoto and Asou finish cleaning up together and heads home.

Impressions:

I thought this was better the last episode, although the last episode kind of was setting up for this one. There was some of the humor coming from again the misunderstands about relationships such as when Asou tried to ask Satsuki what she thought of him as a coach and she blurted out she loved him and upon realizing what happened Satsuki running out. Again Tenma seemed to be the most hilarious throughout this though with her complete clumsiness in playing the game and how much she sucked. Even though I don’t really like Lala that much I find her way of speaking by yelling everything funny.

I felt a bit sorry for Satsuki, I mean she confessed to Asou and everything even though she kind of misunderstood the situation she was very shy but she managed to do that. Then she kind of ran away not getting an answer, but him saying that’s not what he asked is sort of like rejecting her. Then it seems that he is under the assumption he likes Mikoto which may be true since she left the two of them to clean by themselves.
