Last episode timeline wise where we get a nice conclusion of things without leaving it closed so as room for a second season. There are some nice funny moments but mostly just nice moments between some characters.

Summary:

We start off with everyone except Haruhi in the clubroom. Kyon is talking about how it has already been half a year since he met everyone, and how winter is drawing near and the clubroom is especially cold. Kyon mentions how quiet and peaceful things are without Haruhi. Kyon reflects upon some of the events that they have done together. He says how everyday something doesn’t happen but when it does Haruhi usually comes bursting in the door in a good mood. Just then Haruhi bursts in yelling great news. She says how she made arrangements for there to be heating in the clubroom. She says how one of the sponsors for the movie they aired just recently at the cultural festival is willing to give them a heater. She yells at Kyon that he has to go take a long trip down there to pick it up, then a long trip back to bring it to them. Kyon gives in and heads out, but Mikuru puts a scarf around him first. Haruhi gets jealous and yells at him to hurry up so he heads out the door.

Once Kyon leaves Haruhi says its time to take some pictures of Mikuru. Mikuru gets frightened, saying what for and she says for the cover jackets of the DVD for their movie. Mikuru asks, “Didn’t you give up on that? She says she did but only because Kyon kept objecting but he isn’t here right now. She starts dressing up Mikuru to take pictures and Itsuki seems to just instinctively leave the room and come back in when they are done. Haruhi takes a lot of pictures, in some costumes they didn’t even use in the movie. Mikuru asks about that and Haruhi just says they could make an art book about the movie so they need these. She then gets the idea that they could do some bonus material for the DVD so she takes Mikuru and Itsuki out throughout the school, shooting various things of Mikuru being clumsy for the DVD. Meanwhile Kyon is still heading to the store to pick up the heater from the electronics store.

Kyon finally arrives to get the heater. The store manager asks if it’s true they are really going to make a sequel. Kyon seems like it’s the first he’s hearing of it but says if it’s Haruhi anything is possible. The manager says this heater is kind of an advance for the sponsorship and Kyon realizes that’s how she got him to go along with it. Kyon takes the long trek back to the school with the heater. Meanwhile Haruhi, Itsuki, and Mikuru are still about the school shooting various things while we see Yuki alone reading in the clubroom. On the way back Kyon bumps into some classmates who see him working and automatically guess it’s because of Haruhi. He realizes that he has already become associated with her to the extent everyone knows. Kyon gets back to school and runs into Tsuruya, Mikuru’s friend. She puts a handkerchief on his head because he is soaked and says to return it to Mikuru when he returns the scarf he is wearing. Kyon plugs in the heater in the room and eventually falls asleep while Haruhi is still out filming bonus material.

Kyon wakes up to Haruhi standing over him. She says how everyone went home and she had to stay because Kyon was sleeping and she had to lock the door. She then yells at him to return her jacket that she put on him while he was sleeping so he would keep warm. Kyon says how he doesn’t have an umbrella and its raining. Haruhi shyly it seems says that one is enough and holds up one. The two of them walk home together under the same umbrella. The two of them bicker a bit like always and Kyon points out how the umbrella is a staff umbrella. Haruhi says it’s the schools so a student using it is ok. She then grabs it saying she will use it alone. She runs ahead and turns around; sticking her tongue out at Kyon is a playful way.

Impressions:

I thought this episode was really nice. It wasn’t anywhere near as funny as some of the other episodes, nor did it have any plot concerning the mystery behind Haruhi or Yuki, Mikuru, or Itsuki. This episode just seemed to sum things up. Being as how this is the last episode timeline wise it couldn’t really add much more mystery to it. Although we saw that there was no real conclusion either, sot here is defiantly room for a sequel series and especially considering the popularity this series has gotten, its is basically a freaking religion, I think that in the not to distant future that is a very possible thing. Ok so I kind of freaked out last week from the preview for this thinking that Haruhi and Kyon separate thank god that’s not the case. One thing I really noticed was how much Haruhi has changed. I mean in the first episode, timeline wise, she was a very isolated, loner, friendless girl. In the end we see her with everyone in the club having fun doing various things to Mikuru, then at the end playfully going home closely with Kyon. It shows how much she has changed which is really nice.

One thing I loved was just the moment at the end between Haruhi and Kyon. It really showed how Haruhi defiantly has a thing for Kyon and Kyon doesn’t really hate her or anything. He may, as we’ve seen, find her annoying at times but it seems that he has gotten used to her. When she was hovering over him while sleeping and then the priceless look on his face when he woke up was great. It showed she is embarrassed and basically secretly likes him; she even gave him her jacket so he wouldn’t get cold. I think the second jacket he had on came from Yuki. She was the other one there who had one when he went to sleep, and it is a great way of showing how even though Yuki is an alien and previously was very odd and isolated from everyone she has some kind of human emotion as she gave him the jacket because she cared about him.

There were some very funny parts in this episode too, although it mostly seemed like just a light episode wrapping some things up. I loved Haruhi again abusing Mikuru, having her dress up and exploit her in various ways as she gave her terrified voce of protest which was just so hilarious. I also really liked Tsuruya in this episode. She has a great personality for this series I think, sort of like a less bossy Haruhi almost. I hope she appears more in the other parts of the series but I don’t’ think if she does it will be that big of a part.
