A fairly light episode with a lot of comedy was many characters get entwined in the search for an umbrella and its owner.

Summary:

We start out with Nagisa in the school’s library building. She checks out a book from Chiyo who is kind of distracted by her fantasies of Nagisa. When Nagisa finally leaves under her umbrella she sees a young girl, outfit wise from Le Rim. She approaches her and asks if she wants to share her umbrella, because now she is taking cover under a tree. She says in a very shy voice, Oshibaru will get wet which just a bit ago before this we saw her talking to her stuffed teddy bear, calling it Oshibaru. Nagisa gives her the umbrella so Oshibaru doesn’t get wet and runs off. Nagisa gets home and tells Tamao about it and Tamao says she can share an umbrella with her until she gets hers back, as she fantasizes about being close to Nagisa under an umbrella.

The next day, being well weathered much to Tamao’s disappointment, we see the two girls from Le Rim’s student council approach the young girl from before, calling her Kagome. They ask her if she is waiting for someone and she says Oshibaru’s friend. They ask her who this friend is and one of the guesses from the fact that she has Nagisa’s umbrella in the bear’s lap that someone lent an umbrella to her and she is waiting for them so she can return it. They take her to the student council room where the president of Le Rim ask Kagome who this person was and tries to get her to describe them. She just describes them based off the bear, saying taller then the teddy bear, lighter colored skin the then brown teddy bear and so on. The president says this is going no where so creates the Secret Club to investigate the matter.

The Secret Club heads around asking questions and they head to the library. They ask if anyone came by here with this umbrella but they say they don’t know. They accidentally leave the umbrella there and head off to look some more. Meanwhile, while it’s raining outside now, Yaya and Hikari are running from the rain. They eventually make their way to the library to borrow an umbrella form their stock of umbrellas for borrowing on rainy days. They take Nagisa’s umbrella as it was left by the umbrellas for borrow. The Secret Club returns upon realizing they left the umbrella only to find that it was taken.

The next day, the Secret Club commits their selves to finding the umbrella that day so they head to the library to stock it out for when whoever borrowed it returns. Nagisa and Tamao head to the library as well, looking for the umbrella. Hikari and Yaya head to the library as well to return the umbrella. Hikari gets in and pulls the umbrella out of her bag to return it when the Secret Club who has staked out the library jumps out yelling that’s it. Just then Nagisa walks in saying that is her umbrella. Kagome puts down Oshibaru and gives her the umbrella, introducing herself and saying thank you. Everyone then walks to the dorms together, Nagisa and Kagome under an umbrella, Tamao and Chiyo under one, Hikari, Yaya, and Tsubomi under one, the president under one herself, and the two other student council members under their wrecked umbrella from their jump out.

Impressions:

This was defiantly one of the more enjoyable episodes of this series so far, if not my favorite. It kind of strayed from some of the aspects of this show that we earlier saw with the mystery behind some people and some of the relationships. We still saw instances where Tamao showed she liked Nagisa and Yaya liking Hikari and such, and of course the two underclassmen but it was a lot more humorous and I thought really fit better for this show. I think we are likely to see other instances of this where it is more focus on the comedy now that mostly all of the characters have been introduced, with a few episodes here and there about some mystery behind Etoile and such.

There were lots of moments I thought was just great not talking about just the whole episode in particular. When Tsubomi was trying to go into Hikari and Yaya’s room and she ran into the door and then was pushed out into a wall, and ran back into the first door made it really funny. Also just the end when Hikari returned the umbrella and the “Secret Club” burst out all of a sudden with no warning. This brings me to my next point about how the president of Le Rim is fast becoming one of my favorite characters in this series. She isn’t a bitch like a certain president and isn’t all stern and quiet like the other. The whole Secret Club itself was hilarious.

I also thought that Kagome was rather interesting herself. She was incredibly cute in this episode, showing that Le Rim really is the better school since its first years are cuter then the rest. How she treated the stuffed bear, Oshibaru, like a person was priceless and she was so cute describing Nagisa compared to the bear. It’s possible that she will become a fairly regular in this show, as we know have four girls from Le Rim, three from Spica and three from Miatre that have been introduced and for the most part fairly kept in the show.
