We see a lot of drama in this episode was we find out more about Yasuna’s condition and the problems it’s causing for the people she is involved with.

Summary:

We start off right where last episode ended with Yasuna seeing Tomari and Hazumu kissing. The two of them see her seeing them and when she runs off Tomari yells stop. When Yasuna says she trusted her Tomari goes on the offensive as she thinks she was betrayed first. Yasuna runs over and slaps her, saying that for the first time she felt she had a friend in Tomari but was betrayed. Tomari yelled at her saying she betrayed her first, embracing Hazumu. Yasuna gets really shaken and we then see her vision and Tomari is all grayed out. Yasuna is really frightened and confused and she looks at Hazumu and she blurs out too. Yasuna freaks out and faints.

The next morning Yasuna’s mom takes her home. Back at school Hazumu is looking really depressed and we see Tomari at the end of her camp looking the same. We then see Yasuna in the hospital and the doctor telling her mom that her condition is worse, she can now no longer see anyone, men or women but backgrounds basically. When Yasuna gets home Hazumu is waiting for her and they go inside together. Yasuna tells Hazumu how she can no longer see men or women now. Hazumu goes home and Yasuna starts freaking out more about not being able to see Hazumu. She looks at the pictures she has with her and then searches for th3e drawing she did of him and nothing.

Hazumu gets home and Tomari is there waiting for her. Tomari tries to talk about what happened earlier, saying her feelings won’t change but Hazumu gets pissed she is bringing this up now with what is going on with Yasuna even though Tomari doesn’t really know anything. Hazumu yells at her, saying she doesn’t care about Tomari right now and runs inside. Tomari runs off to her thinking spot by the river and starts crying about how Hazumu said she doesn’t care about her and everything. Ayuki is walking by and Tomari cries into Ayuki’s shoulders while Ayuki has a concerned look on her face.

At school, Hazumu is tending the gardens with Asuta. They get to a plant where if there are two sprouts in one jar you are supposed to pull the smaller one out because it could cause both to die. Hazumu says however they both look so healthy she doesn’t know which to pull out. As the two of them stare at the plant Ayuki comes up behind them and forcefully pulls out and throws it to the side. Hazumu is shocked by this. Ayuki looks really angry and serious saying this is what you have to do. Ayuki talks to Hazumu alone and tells her basically that she has to choose between Tomari and Yasuna or they will both go away. However she says that Hazumu doesn’t care for the withered flowers, using a metaphor, she just cares that she can no longer enjoy them, caring about herself not the flowers, or in this case Tomari and Yasuna.

Hazumu gets home to find out that Sora and Jan Puu have to leave soon. Sora tells her that the reason they were here is Yasuna. On their planet there are many people with her condition, as technology improved and such people didn’t communicate and just like how you can’t tell very well the difference between two bugs of the same species, they became to not tell people apart, like Yasuna. They were here to experiment on her to see if love would change anything but Hazumu didn’t make a move or anything so they are leaving. Hazumu realizes that Yasuna’ condition would be fixed basically if she were to choose her. Meanwhile we see Yasuna and Tomari together talking. Yasuna explains to Tomari about her condition and how it is now worse. Yasuna tires to say because of her condition Tomari should have Hazumu but Tomari says no, she needs her more and basically gives Yasuna Hazumu, although no happily she feels it’s the right thing to do for Hazumu and Yasuna.

Impressions:

There was a lot of drama in this episode, preparing for the final episode which is next. It seems like we will get that drama into the next episode for the first half of it or so then the second half being all nice. We got an explanation on what exactly Yasuna’s condition is a cause of which is good because before then they didn’t really touch on the cause much. Although I think that it is a bit unfair that Yasuna has this so Hazumu will take pity on her, Tomari is kind of out of luck.

It seems almost certain at this point that Hazumu will go with Yasuna. First of all Hazumu kind of seemed to decide that herself when she heard that Yasuna would be better if she knew love basically, so she figured that Yasuna needed her so it was kind of out of pity. Second Hazumu and Tomari’s talk really showed how Tomari kind of gave up. After Yasuna told her about her condition Tomari realized, although probably not happy about it, that Yasuna needed her more then she did so she gave her up to be nice to Yasuna which is a bit cheap.

I loved Ayuki in this episode. I’ve always seen her as a fairly forceful character and she really shined in this episode. How she forcefully talked to Hazumu was amazing. She used again the metaphor of how Hazumu can’t choose both but she really slammed her. Saying that she doesn’t care for the lost things, only about herself no longer able to enjoy them. Using the flowers for instance she says when both perish because of cared for in same soil and both die, Hazumu doesn’t mourn the flowers but feels sorry for herself not being able to see them anymore. So she basically said that Hazumu doesn’t’ care about Tomari and Yasuna’s feelings, only her own.

It was interesting that Sora’s original purpose coming to this planet was about Yasuna. That kind of surprised me, how there are instances of her condition (damn, can’t call it yurivision really anymore) on his planet and he experimented on her to try and find a solution.
