We get a lot more development between Hazumu and Tomari including some of their history.

Summary:

We start off where the last episode left off where Tomari walked in on Hazumu and Yasuna kissing. Tomari is completely taken back but keeps her composure and just says stuff like oh, good and that’s good while she gets the stuff she left in the room and leaves. Hazumu is about to chase after her but is stopped by Yasuna who thanks her for accepting the kiss. Tomari goes running out of the school, obviously very distressed. She runs to her special spot which is some barrels next to a stream that she sits atop reflecting upon. She remembers when she and Hazumu were kids and how Hazumu said he would become her bride, and her yelling at him saying boys can’t be brides and he is too girly to become a groom. Hazumu says he will be Tomari’s groom anyways and Tomari in real life gets kind of mad at herself from remembering that all and says that can’t really be a promise anyways.

The next day, Tomari greet Hazumu to go to school with Ayuki and Asuta as if nothing is wrong at all, which Hazumu is a bit surprised she is acting as everything is fine. Walking to school Tomari announces in a happy voice as if she is glad for Hazumu and tells Ayuki that Hazumu and Yasuna are dating now. She says for Hazumu not to be so shy and is really happy for her. She pushes her along when she sees Yasuna and has her walk with Yasuna. Throughout school Hazumu tries to do some things with Tomari such as get notes from her or eat lunch together but Tomari keeps refusing and says that she should do those things with Yasuna. After avoiding Hazumu again, while with Ayuki Tomari apologizes to her for dragging Ayuki along for an excuse not to be with Hazumu. Tomari says that wasn’t nice of her to avoid Hazumu and Ayuki just agrees with her.

Over at Yasuna’s house, Hazumu is there borrowing notes and they get to talking about the things they like and all they have in common. Yasuna says how they should have done this earlier; discuss what each other likes and such. Meanwhile at a karaoke bar Ayuki, Asuta and Tomari are there and Tomari is singing. Asuta says to give it a rest, she has sung seven songs in a row and keeps canceling the songs the others queue. Tomari ignores him and when they are notified their time is up and if they want to continue Tomari is saying how they will keep going for hours but Ayuki stops her and tells them they are done. She then tells Tomari, “No matter how much you sing, you can’t run away. You are the one who chose to get involved.” Back at Yasuna’s house, the two of them are still spending more time together and they get really close. Yasuna goes to kiss Hazumu and as Hazumu is doing the same she closes her eyes but sees Tomari. She tries again but keeps seeing her and says she can’t and heads off.

Night time, Tomari is back at her special spot reflecting upon when Hazumu and she were kids again. Hazumu comes running to her and says she has something to say. Tomari is kind of cold and just says, “What? Aren’t you happy now?” Hazumu finally manages to spit out that she has feelings for Tomari also and she slaps her. She gets mad saying that she is with Yasuna and such but Hazumu says how Tomari is important and she doesn’t want to loose her and not talk to her just because she is with Yasuna, making Tomari feel a little bad about how she kept avoiding her. Hazumu told her about how she couldn’t kiss Yasuna at her house because of the promise they made and they go to a flashback of when they were kids where Hazumu says if he can cross the river without falling, by jumping on the rocks, Tomari will make him her groom. Hazumu, in real time, then goes to the rocks and starts jumping across. Tomari heads towards him running through the water (very shallow) saying how she can’t keep running away. She says if what she, Hazumu, just said is true will she do the same thing with her as she did with Yasuna. Tomari goes to kiss Hazumu but ends up hugging her instead, and says how she loves her and the episode comes to an end.

Impressions:

I liked how they showed the history of Tomari and Hazumu and how there is something there that goes far back as opposed to the relationship with Yasuna. This episode really brought into place Tomari as a possibility as before they just dealt with her in the background being jealous of Yasuna and Hazumu. I was surprised when Tomari actually took the step and said that she loved Hazumu and almost gave him a kiss but instead a hug, it shows that not only does Hazumu also have feelings for Tomari, Tomari has feelings for him so unlike some love triangles Hazumu has feelings for both other people.

I liked Ayuki’s character a lot, especially in this episode. She seemed to know what was going on with people and their feelings and helped to moderate Tomari and give her advice. She had in previous episodes not necessarily told Tomari what to do but just stated a fact and gave Tomari a clear decision between what she needed to do. I don’t think they will involve her at all in the relationships and I’m glad that they probably won’t but she is a good character none the less.
