A lot of mystery is thrown in about the world and its existence as well as the organization behind the Zegapain mecha.

Summary:

We start off with Kyo waking up and finding he has a package from the Celebrum organization, the one behind the mechas. He receives a video game called the Pain of Zega. He doesn’t think much of it and heads off to school where he shows his PR video for the swim club. People seem to like the video a lot but still no one signs up for his club. The student president is talking to Kyo’s friend who made the video and then says to Kyo how if they don’t’ get members his club will be cut. Kyo says he will tell everyone, and pulls out the game he got. The president doesn’t’ seem to really care at all and it turns out the Pain of Zega is just a popular game that everyone knows about.

Kyo gets to playing the game and it is basically exactly like what he does when he is in the mecha. He signs in to find out he already has an account and he goes through in a mecha fighting evil mecha’s identical to the ones he destroyed when he was doing all this for real. He continues the game at his friend’s house and gets to an area where he finds a message someone sent him that says “Don’t get involved with Misaki Shizuno.” Kyo is really surprised by this but puts it aside for the meantime.

Eventually Kyo gets a call from Shizuno and they go do the mecha thing with another set of mecha pilots from before. They find an area called a Detuera area, which was something right out of the game. They go into it and destroy it but instead of leaving right away Kyo notices something and gets out of the mecha and walks around in one of the ruins of the building. The ruins are again identical to the game and in particular this floor of the building is where he found the message telling him not to get involved with Shizuno. Before he opens it there is some rumbling and another message appears from what gets broken away from a wall. The message says “Don’t believe the world you see.” When Kyo tries to open the locker where the message was in the game, his hand goes right though it. Kyo gets kind of freaked out and asks Shizuno what is going on and the episode ends.

Impressions:

There was a lot more mystery in this episode. We saw the weird connection between the game that Kyo got and how it was based upon the weird world that Kyo fights in. There was also the mystery of who sent the message about staying away from Shizuno and what the message was exactly about not believing the world you see. I think there is a whole matrix thing going on with the school world being a fake or something.

We also see some jealously from Kyo friend when she thinks about when Kyo said he kissed Shizuno as well as her blushing when her friend asked Shizuno herself if she kissed him. Along with that we saw some more hinting about the world being a fake when Kyo’s friend’s friend was talking about her dreams and the future. Shizuno got kind of weird at the mention of dreams and of the future.
